That is appalling Things are only worth what people are willing to pay and they do get them donated for free. Daylight robbery. I hope it doesn't sell.0 -
Dolly daydream if you have a farmfoods near you get milk and bread there or look for markdowns. Failing that buy flour and yeast,If you have ordinary plain flour in it will do for emergency bread it just does not get quite as big. Also if you have self raising then plain scones are a good substitute for rolls. You can also make a loaf with the scone dough and I have made pizza base with it a time or two.0

Interested to see several mentions of presents for teachers , TA's etc .
We don't expect them .......honestly!
The thought that parents on a low fixed income should scrimp and save to buy presents for (pretty well paid) staff really concerns me. I am sure school staff would rather the kids got something extra or there was more food on the table.
TBH a thank you goes a long way especially if you mention something in particular. The card I treasure from a Y6 leaver just said 'thanks for being there when Grandad died' .0 -
I have a question for those who work/worked in the jobcentre. My brother has just told me he had to sign off and has to sign on again after he comes back from a weeks holiday which was booked and paid for long before he was made redundant. Is this right? I thought you could take a short holiday without problems. Also I thought if you signed off you could not sign on again for six months.0

we are in for a tough month this month, we have gone overdrawn and DH got paid today and his wage is pretty much gone - the bill money has been moved to that account and the rest of his wage has gone on the overdraftso we literally have no money for food, apart from the £20 a week from tax credits that we will be getting
gonna do a check of everything we have in and see what meals i can make up but we desperately need milk and bread so will have to find some money from somewhere for thatso i might be asking for some help to make up weird and wonderful meals from what we have in
Can you not use the free £10 milk & more code for bread & milk?
Check the website if they deliver in your area & let me know I'll pm you the promo code HTH0 -

Only if holiday is UK based and he promises to go to interviews if called. My son had to fill a form in before we went to centreparcs one year, give full contact details and as less than 2 hours drive they said OK, as we were leaving Friday afternoon and back midday Monday. Only told them as he should have signed on Monday at 10am.
If its abroad then he is classed as not actively looking for work, so no JSA for the week.
Its called a rapid reclaim I think what your brothers done. Just means no long wait for money as they use the info already given.0
