Also on the subject of Hugh Fernley Whatshisdoda

Did anyone else see the episode where he was cooking with oats. I loved the idea of making my own muesli as I too hate nuts (allergy in fact!) so thought that was fab although not too sure about serving it with orange juice and shredded apple though instead of milk -- anyone tried it yet?? .

    Also before you all ask.........

    BENJAMINS GREENS CHEESE

Any and every green vegetable he can find covered in a cheese sauce and served with tomato ketchup! :D:D:D:D:D

so we tend to cook up lots of broccoli, peas and green beans, put in a dish, covered in a cheese sauce and topped with grated cheddar and chucked under the grill for a few minutes to brown it off. Is very yummy and healthy depending on how much cheese you decide to use obviously!

Meant to say the leaving the house at 6am job topic ---- was purely an example scenario.

I am fortunate that I work next door to my place fo work and by next door I mean literally I walk out my gate, 30 feet and Im at its front door but for me to get full tiem work I need to look further a feild.

BF is up at 5, leaves the flat at 5.30 to be in work for 6am and some days if he has to go *ahem* stealing back their cars he has to be in work for 5am.

( LOL should add BFs occupation isn't 'car thief', he is a courtesy car delivery driver and sometimes clients wont return the cars so they have to go and reclaim them back unknowingly at stupid o clock to avoid confrontations)

ignore the health visitor, she's talking tosh.

Well on the jobs front i have taken on very low paid work, work 12 hours + for £30 a night, then paid childcare out of it. Ended up leaving childcare and luckily my mother looked after him.

Now partner earns less than minimum wage goes out 6:30am comes back 6pm and 10:30pm its rubbish but its a job. This is why i need a job between the hours of 8am and 6pm purely for childcare but unfortunately its just not happening at the mo.
better go rescue OH, just dumped him and 2 boys in the kitchen in front of the oven:rotfl:sounds like total chaos
  • glad you are feeling happier, SammyK. I weaned my daughter at 12 weeks (shes 7 now), because she was bawling round the clock for food. at one stage i was making up 6 bottles of SMA hungry milk, at 8oz, every day, and she was giving her self reflux with greed! in the end i started her off with a bit of rice, and she went mad for it, so we slowly weaned her over a few weeks. she was fat as a fool from day one, born 2 weeks early at 8lb 9oz. shes a healthy bouncing 7 yr old now, fully vegetarian, and towering over her classmates heightwise. some kids are just like that, sadly both of mine are, eat me out of house and home!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Sammy, I would have shot the HV by now...both of my kid's red book's come to an end after about 3/4 months, there is too much focus on weights now days. If I have a concern I go and see them rather than have some one poking around looking for problems.
  • OH has managed to get the lego toys from the mirror paper today - after queing! There very good. Boys gave up last weeks pocket money and mum gave them a £1 each for tomorows lego so if there good they get it!

Tesco shopping came today -took me over an hour to put away, should have enough meat for the month but will need bread, milk, fruit and veg. They didnt have little fromage frais or the cereal bars that were on offer so shall visit netto tomorrow. The shop was more expensive than last month and i didnt get my bag of SR flour as it was out of stock - sure they could hve given me a more expensive 1.

When I look at the pictures of No1 son at 4 months old, you'd think he'd belonged to the michelin family. By 9 months old he was slim and still is. Use your motherly instinct S-K.

I would just like to add to Sammy K that I have four children. I remember that my eldest weaned at 12 weeks (a boy); DD weaned at 7 months (and only because my mother insisted she needed solid food and weaned her); Ds2 weaned about 6 months but was very poorly and fussed a lot and DS3 weaned at about 10 weeks as he was a tiny babe with a HUGE appetite. The problem is that HV's have to follow protocols and there will be some government guidance on weaning. My kids are all older teens or young adults and are all healthy. My DD does have a weight problem now but was a skinny rake for years so there is not telling how they will turn out. It sounds like your HV has it in for you a bit and you are perfectly within your right to request to see another one. Im a retired midwife and would never have treated a family the way she has treated you x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
