Well, to be fair to my sister, his usual (non banking crisis) bonus is at least £30k (how the other half live!) and she was holding out to have him spend the whole of his bonus on a ring. She earns a very good salary (more than twice what DH makes) and her boyfriend earns a lot more as he works for a bank. She was talking the other day about how long it will be till he's earning a million... (I'm guessing she means till he's a millionaire as surely even bankers don't earn a million a year?!!)

DH and I are very much the poor relations but it's quality of life that comes first for us and we are SO much happier that I wouldn't swap places with her for anything! She's destroying her health and looking for all the wrong things in a relationship. I try to help but if I suggest downsizing and doing something that would make her happier she just scoffs because she thinks my life is as crazy as I think hers is! I cross my fingers that she sees the light and finds an easier and happier way of living before she self-destructs.

Oh lovelife thank you for the link. Ken Loach was great in the interview, wasn't he? I was saying to mydh yesterday after seeing the unrest in France, that there just might be civil unrest in the U.K down the line, when we hear what is what tomorrow. Thankfully we have our wee community here to learn from each other and be supportive to each other. I read here almost every day, and always feel part of it, even if not posting, but think it is such a lovely place to be. I feel I am amongst friends. Margaret xx

My pleasure and you are right it is a lovely place to be xxx
  • My healthvisitor was a classic, as the boys were premature and both in special care she felt it was acceptable to turn up at any time to show the student HV what a prem baby was like! Thankfully when Ethan came along the nurses at the NICU not so politely asked her to stop turning up as thay wont allow access without the parents there - I didnt have the confidence to tell her myself!

Both boys had pyloricstenosis and vomited all the time and often came out projictile so our house was always stinking of vomit!

Catzine - I think the French have much much more intelligence than we do. If we could be bothered to get off our lazy apathetic a$$e$ then the govt wouldn't be getting away with ruining people's lives. We voted them in, we employ them. They are not our masters or betters. And the sooner they remember that the better. I am so mad after hearing about Kinloss that I could spit roast the entire bl00dy lot of them!
  • Ceridwen, my dress will be home made, red & with a corset style top.

well its done Im a free single lady, amazing 21 years just wiped out with a judges nod so its:beer::beer::beer: and :j:j...

Ceridwen thanks for your concern re the financials, there was virtually nothing left to salvage, the garage well my dad bought him out, the house is up for sale and he gets half of that less all the sale costs when it finally sells, we both agreed that we leave each others pension pots alone, was a clean break...he went off into the sunset with his saddlebags bulging with £notes and I have an income and a job from the garage albeit a miniscule income in the present financial clime...

Blonde floozie couldnt wait to let slip that there getting married sometime in December, I just wished them both well, smiled and went off out into the town centre happy in the realisation that someone else had taken over his gambling, lazy wasteful space..I am too busy trying to keep the roof over my head and getting on with my life from now on.....just got to wait till its made absolute then woo hoooo by Christmas my lifes my own..
First thing I did was take the wedding and engagment ring down to local pawn shop and sold them..got £300 so went in to local hspital and made a donantion to the Macmillan Nurses and scarpered, least it will help in some way..

Have spent part of the afternoon with my dad, he keeps thinking Im heartbroken and going to go into decline over this far from it...he was just worried about me as all dads do...

So thats the last I shall be writing about my ex husband and his blonde friend, like the autumn leaves they can just blow off into the distance, I have lots of regrets mostly of wasted time spent accepting that I would never be a mum, but Im only 42, theres still some tick left in my biological body clock and who knows what the future holds but it can only be positive and good..

So thank you all for listening to my rants and raves over the past few weeks and your kind comments that have kept me going when I felt down...and I will return the favour tenfold on here....

So Annie56 spent the rest of the afternoon with her nice new friend discussing wait for it.....pickled onions and organic manure, one things for sure this new blokey has got Old Style down to a fine art, makes me look positivley like a spendthrift:eek:, told him to get on here and give his male viewpoint on Old Style ;)

Now just got to see what the Government has in store for us all tommorow with the Spending Review, do we breathe a sigh of relief or batten down the hatches even more...fun days ahead methinks...

Okies am off to read the last couple of days posts on the forum, once again thank you all for your support it has been most appreciated and so :beer::beer: to the future and watch this space;););););)

    Hugs to you all

Haven't been on for a couple of days as my house is still up side down and we only solved the pipe problem late last night.
Water is back on but all windows are open due to paint fumes which means we are ffffrrrrrreeeeezing.
The gritters were out in force from early afternoon here so it looks like a cold night in store.
Off to put on another fleece and heat up some soup. :D

Glad you got your water back on, and feel sorry for you with paint fumes in this weather, it's horrible very damp and cold here.

I think there is some rotten weather on the way as I noticed a few seagulls inland today, they only visit us when bad weather is incoming.

Don't know about anyone else but i have an awful sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach about all the cuts
Honestly i think this new government have conned everyone .i feel sick with worry..hubby reckons i'm over-reacting but i don't think so do you...
Agree with you 100%, am I'm also worried sick about it. We're all being hammered by one sodding thing after another, losing jobs, wage freezes, food prices increasing, the VAT increase in Jan. I'm not going to even voice what I'm worried about, as I'm afraid it might happen if I do.

I'm sick of having tomorrow hanging over me, that's for sure.
