Tesco are SO stingy

I always have a latte in the cafe and read the paper after I have shopped at Tesco. When I arrived at the cafe today , I asked for the papers and was told that Tesco no longer provide them for customers. This in the week that they have record profits! How's that for customer care? Needless to say I did not have my usual latte. They will get the papers cheaper anyway as they sell them. How mean is that?

Our local Tesco's cafe is no longer run by them, so maybe this is the case with yours and the reason for them no longer supplying newspapers?Gone ... or have I?0

When I worked for Safeway (between 1991 & 1995) the coffee shops used to have newspapers for the customers to read.
It was probably a bit naughty but in the stores I worked in at the end of the day the papers were put to one side and at the end of the week they were returned to the wholesalers and the store would be credited for them (Newspapers & Magazines are supplied on a sale or return basis).
In one store they would alternate papers... ie Sun/Mirror, Mail/Express, Times/Telegraph so that it would not look suspicious that they were always returning at least one copy.Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
I think Tesco cafes have been taken over by Eurest.............we couldn't believe the paltry one spoon of beans we got on our baked potato one day, and the tiny half filled pot of cheese that provided a very thin sprinkling on the one potato!!!
We worked out afterwards when doing the shopping, that at the prices in Tesco, that both jacket potatoes could've been made for 50p......................we got charged £5!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes: Needless to say we don't bother eating in there anymore.
On top of that, we went in there before that just at the time the breakfast menu stopped...........there were loads in the queue at the time for the breakfast............on 11am on the dot, they came out and took all the breakfast items away so we couldn't purchase them, someone asked what happens to it................reply was it gets binned, yet there 9 people who wanted to buy it, needless to say all 9 downed trays and left!!!
In addition, I couldn't believe it yesterday when I returned a £4 block of substitued cheese that I hadn't ordered........................and it got promptly chucked in the bin.................I've felt guilty about it ever since!!!!!!!!:o:o:o:o:oHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. That's correct.
The cafe in Tesco Alloa used to be pretty good. (Didn't use it often but on the rare occasion I did, it was good)
Since it was converted to an Extra the cafe was taken over by Eurest and the food is nowhere near as good, and more expensive0 -
Indeed, Eurest have taken over a large number of Tesco's Cafes and so maybe it is the case that they don't want to pay for papers as to the best of my knowledge they pay full prices for items off of shop floor as opposed to the purchase priceTitch0

we had a meal in tesco's a while ago it was disgusting and the childs jam sandwich had hardly any jam in it.
It used to be the case to avoid motorway services and use a supermarket restaurant, not anymore well with tesco anyway.0 -

Did you take into account the power to heat the jacket potatoes, the cost of the seats and tables you sat on and the hourly rate of the staff they paid to cook your potoatoes? If they charged £5 it would cost around £2-£3 to make0
