    Hi MG

I don't know if it's just me but I tried to book DD2 on the London course via your website last night - originally on 20 November but then after I had booked it she said 'oh No I can't do that date' Grrr!! so then I tried to rebook for 4 December. However I haven't had anything back via email or PM to say you have receievd it.

I really think this is something the website needs (assuming it isn't just me) ie it should generate an instant email to say 'thank you for your interest' even if you can't confirm arrangements there and then. Plus I agree with everyone who has said you should ask for some money up front. I am very happy to pay in full up front (as it's you and I've been following you since 71p and 3 nappies).

By the way, I have also (this evening ) booked DD1 on a course as well. Hope that has come through
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • MG - just musing about your website and I hope this comes out the way I mean it...

Now I have absolutely no idea about marketing so I'm so sorry if I'm talking completely out my @rse:o...

I think your most saleable asset is you - your personality, your way with words, your past story and your present story (with what is happening with Mr Big etc) - not just the fact that you are a world memory champion and mind-map expert....

It is your story that draws me back time and again to this thread, I want to be part of this. All of us who have followed your story, carry that information with us when we visit your web-site. It seems to me ( as an on-looker) that it is your story that is propelling people to purchase your "product".

So..... what about people who are referred to / just click on your website - they do not have the benefit of your "back" story to stir their emotions / influence their purchase. Without this knowledge, your are a mind-mapping teacher. With the knowledge of your story, you (and subsequently their purchase) become so much more.

Is there any way to give a "potted history" of your story or even refer them back to the MSE threads???

I don't know if any of my ramblings make any sense what-so-ever- I hope so :o

Apparently you guys have freaked them out a little at how fast you move together................ I love the idea that all those successfull guys are freaked a little.

    Memorygirl

That is sooooo funny, all those successful guys freaked out by a crowd of girlies (& Mike) :rotfl: I love it :T
I've just gone back to read it -OMG:eek:. I can't make up my miond if I needed a good drink, a good shake or a good cuddle:rotfl:

All I can say was, that it was straight from the heart

It is a wonderful post MG & I have been thinking about it all day. It was a scary moment for you when you had to hit the button not knowing if people would be interested or not. So pleased they are :j

As a Credit Manager I was worried to see that there was no mention of when or how to pay so I am pleased that has already been noted. I think it would be fab if they paid 100% up front, it gets their full commitment and you don't have to worry about it on the day - You really don't need the distraction or the hassle of someone saying they haven't brought payment or worse still bounced cheques after the event. All big training company's insist on payment up front.

Also think the idea of some form of auto acknowledgment at the time of booking is a great idea.

Claire - I LOVE the set you did this morning and the bracelet you sold this afternoon is fabulous. Can we have similar in other colours please :)

    Happy Birthday Souk

MG - Hope you have a great day tomorrow with Dr Who :D

A feedback section of your website MG is a great idea, one person commented on my link to say that it all sounds good and interesting, although if they are honest they are a bit sceptical.... so it's worth doing. Also maybe put up a rough cost of what it'll be after this tour so people know they are getting a bargain? Come on, we are on the MSE site after all.... no-one can resist a good bargain!! x

Just had a half hour chat with the Big man himself (still think he's feeling a bit guilty about Friday Night :D)

I would like to use "talking head" testimonials on the site and he came up with an interesting point about "convincers", testimonials and persuading skepics.

He was talking about how you don't have to convince everybody. Your job is to seek out the 20% of people that you come in contact with for whom this is absolutely he best thing they can do for themselves or for their kids. If you chase every sale it will drive you nuts. Well more nuts obviously!!!

He says its like considering yourself a fisherman at sea - you gotta keep throwing out the net and gathering in the fish that meet your requirements. You throw the ones that don't meet your requirements back into the ocean for the next fisherman who's need they will meet perfectly.

The more nets you throw - the more fish you catch.

So for the "Student Survival Guide" training I need to come up with as many ways as possible to reach out to people to direct them to my site - seeeemples!!! when he puts it like that.

The flip side is I have some pretty specific targets in mind for corporate work - like he Eden Project and the Science Museum to do one of those Museum sleepover thingies)

For that I need to be like a hunter, getting to know my target well, being patient and watching and then when the moment is perfect make my move.

Now apart from the fact that its fairly obvious from all the huntin' shootin' fishin' stuff going on here makes is prety apparent that these guys are more used to mentoring, well other guys:rotfl::rotfl:, it raises a great point - you don't waste you time persuing EVERY sale, and you don't beat yourself up about letting one go either.

Using this one as an example because I know OliveOyl will take this in the spirit of learning an nothing more. OliveOyls son doesn't want to play, she said earlier

(DS2 refused my offer of a place  he said "Anyway, thanks but no thanks. I hate those types of courses, I just don't believe they'll help me at all. Thanks anyway. Nice of you to look out for me" and I can't find the words to get past that brush off. But as he is RETAKING a year at uni, I disagree with him :rotfl: )

so I asked Mr Big - "Do I reach out to OliveOyl and help her persuade her son, cos if he's retaking a year he's obviously not finding it easy?"

"Absolutely not" he says "he's not part of your 20% if he can't see how much it will benefit him. Every University knows and recommends Mind Mapping, its not new, its been proven to be a fabulous technique time and time again - and you are the World Champion. He could run a google search or ask any of his lecturers, they will tell him the same. Move on. He's not ready to work with you."**

So I guess I don't chase him - I keep casting my net wide and keep looking for the perfect fish - and after today, and you wonderful guys I am looking at significantly less than the 1000 we set out to target.

I know, I know (I'm not telling you the numbers just yet) - but I've decided to play a game with myself and see how many "perfect fish" I can find before my 100 day challenge is up.

    Memorygirl

** If you are wondering how I can quote him, although obviously I have a superbly trained memory:rotfl::rotfl: the reality is the coaching calls are recorded and I can access the transcripts.

Thanks DT :j :o As for my camera - it's nothing special at all! Canon Ixus 40 (I think) and I absolutely love it. Bought it off Ebay for £40 last summer after breaking the previous (identical) one I'd had for a few years :rotfl: It does take pretty good photos - but the ones you'll have seen are the result of taking absolutely LOADS usually and deleting plenty of shaky and blurry ones! :D It's got a little viewfinder thing - I'd call it point and click as that's all I ever do :D (but is that a technical term meaning something else??) I love the fact it fits in my pocket, doesn't need a complicated bag, and I carry it with me ALL the time which I wouldn't do if it was any bigger :) Might not be suitable for what you want from what you say, but I love it!

I suspect someone wanted pix taken? Can't see the comment... but colleges are in full swing, and many offer photography, and some of the students are ace already, and photographing jewellery for a website would make a good year project for someone, in return for a mention or linky to their website.

    a.k.a FREE!

As for taking deposits or full payment - that is also in hand.

I'm so glad you guys are happy telling me what you want - you are a great help.

And will go sort out he shuffle for your daughter Maryb - no problems. he other booking arrived too.

MG, I was chatting to DH about the possibility of sending our 2 on a course. He rightly said we wont have the money to do it this side of Christmas.

It's such a shame - if ever a child needed your help, its our DS, bless him (dyslexic/dyspraxic and currently being bullied for it). Fingers crossed we'll be able to sort something out in the new year :o

Thanks Mike thats a good idea but only part of the need the other is when I go to Uganda it was there that my camera let me down big time in that I bought a new compact flash card in Schiphol as mine had mysteriously disappeared (thanks Teenagers ) and when I tried to use it realised it wouldn't work as it was too fast swopped it for an older one with an Ugandan lad only to find when I got home that his card had a virus and despite all attempts I lost over 200 pictures including ones of the sponsored children that were supposed to go to their sponsors :o not something you can just dash back and redo:mad:
