Best for over tens because its quite a full-on day.
If the kids are younger then its better if one of the parents does the day then I can support them in introducing the techniques in nibble-sized chunks into the family.
That way it becomes something the family does rather than something one member does IYSWIM.
Hope that helps

Evening!
Well lots going on, there's so much to catch up on I'm at risk of missing doing anything to move forward with my own goals!
Cheery, try not to let things get you down, You've done so well that it would be a shame to fall at the last hurdle so just keep going that bit longer. I have PhD too and I also spent 7 years on it (a year to write it up a bit at a time)! And a friend took 9 years. I hope that whatever other things are adding to your burden will improve soon too.
Re Websites:
Claire I like the ideas of seasonal stuff, I think you could divide your site into separate pages, maybe for earrings, necklaces etc or for Xmas, Easter, Halloween, special occasions... That way people will be easily able to find what they want if they are looking for something specific - and of course if they're just browsing it will still all be there. I like the idea of an email update too. I think it's a good idea to make this more than just a 'look what I've added to the site for sale' message. For example an aquaintance of mine runs a bakery, I only found that out when they started to send out these newsletters and they sent them to everyone whose email address they had. I admit these newsletters do kind of draw you in so you remember them and look out for them. For example on theirs they put news about what's going on at the bakery, whether they have new staff, new products etc, what fairs or events they are going to, what courses they run, when they are having an open day or other event, what charity or local initiative they are supporting, even completely unrelated stuff like what pets they have. You could do the same, say if you are going to be at any craft fairs, if you have a new product line, if you can do personalised gifts, if you are going to do any courses or children's parties, that sort of thing, and put in some nice photos, and if you can add a cute picture of angelic little girls dressed in sparkly things or a sweet kitten playing with your bead collection etc so much the better. It does help people to make that connection with you and remember you so they think of you first. And one last thing - I know you like to show people exactly what they are getting, but could you just put in one photo of earrings and say they can be made with either silver-plated or sterling silver wires? That will save a bit of space!
MG, I like your site too but again I would divide stuff up so it isn't just all lumped together, divide it up into separate pages and make each one easier to digest. For example pages for school students, professionals, university students, possibly other groups too, and on each one, say specifically what you can do that is exactly what they need, add testimonials too. Then perhaps course details on a separate page and books on another? And an 'about me' page. I agree too with the idea of making it more uniform colour-wise, use turquoise in the text (perhaps instead of the royal blue bits?) to tie the text in with the logo. And for the courses, it would be nice to be able to just click direct on the date/place of the one you want to book, be taken direct to a checkout type page where you choose how many places you want, and then book (and pay) and get an immediate response. You don't want people to be left wondering if they really have booked or not. And I would agree with everyone else re payment - when organising anything from a group holiday to a couple of theatre tickets it is always much better to get everyone to pay up front, that way they are committed and less likely to back out at the last minute or change their minds and mess you about for some trivial reason. Also it is psychologically easier to get money out of people for something they are looking forward to than for something they have already had! :rotfl:You then have to decide on a policy re refunds, eg cancellation up to a month before, they lose 10 or 20% of the cost (admin fee); cancellation less than a month before, they lose 50% or even the full cost. And putting a little highlighted 'limited places available' or even 'fully booked' :j next to the appropriate courses will certainly get people to make their minds up.
Gosh what a wordy person I am... had better stop there :rotfl:0 -

I quote close to my heart - a very Marxist one. Communism is possible when there is abundance, Marx thought. Can we prove that the same principle is the basis for creating abundance, I wonder?
Thanks, Mike. Made me think and put a happy smile on my face.

MG, I was chatting to DH about the possibility of sending our 2 on a course. He rightly said we wont have the money to do it this side of Christmas.
It's such a shame - if ever a child needed your help, its our DS, bless him (dyslexic/dyspraxic and currently being bullied for it). Fingers crossed we'll be able to sort something out in the new year
Spud, it will be Manchester I would think. I'll be in touch tomorrow.

Cheery, I think you should make finishing the corrections to your PhD a priority. From what I remember, before it is finished, done and dusted, it is always in the way. And the worse thing about PhDs is that they are in the way of everything, not only one walk of life.
We will stay your favourite playmates - I promise. But we will be very pleased to play with a happy Dr. Cheery (and becoming a Dr solves many litle life troubles like sometimes you get upgrades when travelling; or even you can be asked to attend to someone taken ill on a plane - I declined but still there was excitement).
Keep going.

I'm just getting used to not wanting 'things' and then I go and see this metalwork bed... Look at the bird's nest!
How do you ask the Universe for things you really, really want?
