Sometimes you just need to take a break to let your brain catch up. My boss wound me up last night, so both last night and this morning (I had a lie in
which I NEVER do) were unproductive. No gardening or housework done which is now annoying me, and I need to spend tonight catching up on the work I was distracted from by other peoples' inefficiencies yesterday.
However... I did go out to get some emergency additions to my travelling suit (3 one week and one 2 day trip in the next 5 weeks and only one suit that really packs well). For once I tried on the smaller size before the larger one and it fitted :j:j. So I celebrated by going for a run when I got home. Now I've recovered from thatand am feeling positive from a read of this thread, I'm hoping the work will go well and I'll get back on track.
Great ideas Claire - if you aren't up to expanding the website into sections yet, don't worry about it, but do start keeping a record of your customers' email addresses and send out updates (no more than one a month, or it gets irritating) with details of new stock, or highlighting a particular range, or even giving a special offer (e.g. after christmas - christmas stock reduced, buy early for 2011)
MG - so pleased to hear that your business gurus are being shown how things can be done
thankyou I will start making a note of email addressesthats a fab idea

Memory Girl saw my friend today and she wants her daughter on the Leeds Mind Mapping, her daughter also happens to be my daughters best friend...so we have a plan.:D
We'll all go together, drop our kids off with you whilst you work your magic and we'll go shopping in Leeds..:rotfl: win...win...win
York is actually nearer for us but I didn't want to wait, also I reckon that the snowball effect of kids talking to kids will generate more interest and thus more business.
Plus I can think of nothing more powerful than feedback/testimonials from young people, it can't get any better than that eh?
On a personal level, I'm still trying to take in The Secret and I need to really, really think about what it is I actually want out of life. I feel that the chaotic, confused thoughts that I have attract a chaotic, confused lifestyle, with no direction....I want direction, so I need to buckle down and come up with a plan.
Bit overwhelmed at the mo actually.

MG - What break even numbers do you need for these venues to start making money - sorry if sounding too practical, but knowing where you need to increase numbers to increase profit can make you target the marketing.
Also do you need to charge more in the more expensive areas like the south east/london as costs of room rental likely to be higher.
Thats a toughie becasue the room rental varies from town to town. With 20 in the "cheaper" areas and 25 in the big cities I make enough money to make it worthwhile doing.
Bearing in mind that the special £80 rate is just for this series of seminars (that we have come to know and love as "The Memorygirl World Tour" as a "Thank you" to the Matrix............ to let you know, a training company charges £119 for a 3 hour speed reading course if that puts it in perspective.
Does that help slightly?

Not knowing what your budget is makes it tricky, but the most important thing about a camera, any camera, is that it feels comfortable in your hand. If it's not, it won't be a pleasure to use, and will just end up sitting in a drawer. Try having a look at "Bridge cameras" - these are mid way between a compact and SLR camera, some have additional or interchangeable lenses, some don't, but they pretty much ball have a "real" viewfinder, the advantage of which is that you hold the camera to your eye to take a shot, which in turn adds stability and reduces the risk of camera shake. So - look online and see what the options are for that sort of camera within your chosen budget. Once you have a shortlist (say 4 - 5 different cameras over 3 - 4 brands) go to Jessops or similar and start handling them. You'll know the right one when you have it in your hands - (cameras are like wedding dresses, the right one for you will become blindingly obvious!). Once you've chosen, toddle home again and buy online, at the cheapest price, with as many free extras as you can find, and going via a cashback site! :rotfl:
Have fun!
Thanks EH for your 2p worth I am very grateful yes the feel is exactly what I mean I don't have the skill for a SLR but I do want a "real camera" OH has a mini Nikon which is my daughters ex camera before we bought her a SLR and I hate it so I will follow your suggestion, Are they actually referred to as "bridge cameras" see I told you I am a camera ignoramusor otherwise what should I actually put in the search box? Budget ermmm no budget can you see now why I am in debt:o the budget will be how much the one I like costs:eek:
But I shall definitely find the cheapest available and cashback once I have decided on "the one":)

Once you've found a model that suits, try the following link for price information - covers many of the "main" brands
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat9.html
If you feel that strongly about the Nikon you've handled, it may be that you are one of those folks who do not get on with their cameras generally....mind you, I'm Canon through and through so I would say that!Happy hunting!

A feedback section of your website MG is a great idea, one person commented on my link to say that it all sounds good and interesting, although if they are honest they are a bit sceptical.... so it's worth doing. Also maybe put up a rough cost of what it'll be after this tour so people know they are getting a bargain? Come on, we are on the MSE site after all.... no-one can resist a good bargain!! xBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16
