Positive vibes to all (including me, I'm still poorly, but thinking hard about the challenges). Thanks both for the explanation about 80 20 - I knew of it, vaguely understood it, but thats helped my perception a great deal.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Good morning
Dull and dreary here but its not raining so that's good
Had a lazy morning so far (Inset day so we never got up very early)
So far I've made myself a coffee the boys a tea
Washed worktops in the kitchen down (ds1 swept kitchen floor)
straightened throws on the settee and ds2 sorted the washing on the radiators
Now ds1 is on dh's laptop, ds2 is on xbox, I'm browsing on here
Need to sort out the clothes I offered on free-cycle into sizes in a minute and get dressed.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Tentatively delurking again to share my admiration at what MG has achieved and continues to achieve - I like the ocean liner metaphor and have one of my own to share, sent to me by a colleague a couple of years back when he left the company:
I have been ploughing a furrow in this field for several years, through some stoney patches, a few places where the going was easy and where the sun was shining and the birds were singing. Plenty of obstacles along the way but generally moving forward. Along the way lots of people have crossed my path and given me a hand but all the time it has been fun and very pleasant.
This last section has been uphill and the going has been getting tougher and the weather all around has been bad. I have now come across a rock in my way. I can't go through it, I can't go over it. I have been stopped.
That's how I'm feeling right now. I have been stopped - I've reached an obstacle that I don't know how to get through or around. I want to thank this thread for the feeling of positivity that is keeping me going at the moment in the belief that things will get better and I will find a way to move onwards.
I understand the talk about 'toxic jobs' and admire EH's bravery at leaving hers. It has renewed my determination to get out of my current place. Anyone know of any vacancies in the Bath/Bristol area for a French and Politics graduate with secretarial/admin experience? I almost wanted to say "only joking" but, to be honest, any suggestions the Matrix has would be appreciated...
Positive thoughts to all - may the Universe send you what you need.0 -
Thanks for the kind comment Aleksrothis - although I'm not sure I can really take credit for any bravery involved - it was more "there are now no more options available to me" as my position was being made impossible! If you feel that your job is indeed "toxic" (and it sounds from what you are saying as though you do) then why not start thinking through your options. Mind mapping could be a help to establish clearly in your own mind a) What you are qualified to do b) what you have experience to do and most importantly c) what you would really REALLY like to do. I wish you every luck and success in taking the plunge, but can't urge you strongly enough to do it whilst you feel the motivation driving you, and remember, there is as much support as you need available here. Please stay delurked and let us know how you get on!
Claire - enjoy your inset day!And well done on getting the smaller people to do more stuff round the house also!
OK: am having a productive morning so far - bathroom cleaned, dishwasher loaded, washing up bowl cleaned, washing up done, email sent to lady about starting an Avon round, and banking checked. Next 15 minute will be a cooking one as I will get muffins made - am of to my Aunties with Mum this afternoon to sort out some stuff on her computer (she's in her 80's and loves her 'pooter, but just some things defeat her! I set up her email and printer last week and she was over the moon!) and want to take some muffins with me! Raspberry & apple I think.

MG, re the dates you mentioned, if you want to head this way I might be able to help, I'm a bit short of time and I'm not sure how much you would need me to do but I might be able to offer a few suggestions. There are 2 universities here after all so hopefully a few students might be interested. And of course you could stay here with us - as long as you're not too bothered about mod. cons. like ceilings ....:rotfl:
Also was there mention of a poster being emailed around?0 -

As promised poster has been emailed...I know the poster says 25th November for last collections but when will they need to be at the destination to be shipped - if that makes sense.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -

It was quite a difficult interview and the asked a couple of tough questions which I'm not sure I answered as well as I could have - guess I'll just have to let the Universe decide.
With regards to football tops I've been offered some old kits from some non league teams - I'm guessing they are still ok?2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -
Good to see that evrything and everyone is aligning for the big start on Monday. I am also very pleased to report that this morning I have already had three very difficult telephone conversations and everytime I came out with what I wanted. Not bad for a Friday morning.
Now back to writing - after popping in Aldi to check out the new running stuff they have. I am going to be back big time to long distance running.
Thinking about it long distance is the key - most things in life that are worth having a long distance.
