Good luck for today Claire! xx
MG! Have a fabulous time in Leeds tomorrow! :T :T I'm quite jealous that I'm not there, especially as it's really not that far from me! It's not entirely out of the question that I might nip on a train last minute for the meet up tomorrow night... but I really can't justify the time away from PhD at the minute. Hmmmm. However, I WILL be coming on one of your days next year - in fact, I believe I got a full time job entirely so that I could afford it
Bitsy Beans, I can so relate to your fears! I wonder, do you have a cheery friend who might come with you? It's often easier to be enthusiastic about other people's stuff than your own, so do you know anyone else who makes things? or even someone who doesn't, who'd be willing to give you a hand for a couple of hours (and who you could do something for in return?) Just a thought
Buffy, really hope you can find a way through. I do think FireWalker is right though - STOP and THINK even if just for 15 minutes, or else you'll end up ill! Hope the matrix and you can find a sensible way through xx
PhD for me today, unsurprisingly. Since I've been hanging round in here, it's really the first time I've ever thought it WAS actually possible for me to finish the thing! Today's task is to rewrite a chapter - a whole chapter - something that in the past would have filled me with dread, and taken me several weeks! But I have a plan, I know what to do, I have talked it through with supervisors, and I am absolutely confident I can do all of it today :j :j Back later to report that I did0 -
Helen105 - you've gt a PM
Buffy - you've got to find yourself a little time to plan out a less stressfull way of working for yourself - otherwise it will all come crumbling down and the kids will be left without a teacher and the school too.
Is there a mentoring programme you can access in your LA - there's one here, wher eyou can talk to other teachers, deputes and HT to share sometipe of how to manage your workload? If not are your school management approachable?
You can't keep running yourself ragged - remember this is a marathon not a sprint.

Just throwing this into the mix Cheery - but I've had fantastic results helping PHD bods get theirs finished. If you can spare the day pop along tomorrow for the seminar, take one day now, access the skills and rattle through the rest of your re-write.
And what the hoo - costs are covered, you can settle up in the future when your job is settled.
I'm heading off now - but I hope you can shuffle your weekend to make it - would be great to put a face to the online voice.

Morning all.
Good luck for today Claire x
Bitsy - how about getting some feedback from us lot on what you've made? Could you put a photo album together online somewhere and let us have a look? You know you'd get honest and constructive opinions, and it could give you more confidence in what you've made so you're ready to take it out there.
MG - wow to the school and the book, I am constantly amazed how much you get done so quickly!
Thank you so much to those of you who popped over to my diary yesterday to help me sort out my thoughts about the courses. I narrowed it down to two options yesterday and having ruled one of those out, I now know what I'm doing! So I will be doing OU course in Philosophy of Mind starting in Feb, and most likely another one on 'The Art of English' starting in October. I should get the majority of the fees paid, and once I sort out my credit transfer, all going well I should have a degree as of the middle of 2012!

Ooh Claire, I suppose the potential new house will give you something to think about while you're at the hospital. Do hope everything goes alright, will be thinking of you today xxx
Well done on deciding Squizz! :j :j
MG - will PM you although you probably won't get it!0 -
Hi Everyone,
MG, wow, you are about to take flight, and I firmly believe you are going to soar. Keep getting mental pics of (Ithink Westlife) singng 'wind beneath their wings'.
Claire, positive vibes to you, listen to the Universe about the house, all things happen for a reason. All will be well:).
Thank you to everybody for good wishes about DD. She's my :Aand I so hated to see her pain.
All this lovely positivity is :eek:starting to make me think.0 -

Cheery, I am with MG on this one - it is a similar situation to Buffy's really. My writing has become so much better (and faster) since I have been using some of the techniques MG advocates - and I suspect what is in the book is only the tip of the iceberg.
There is a very selfish reason to insist as well - I would like to meet you. But also talk to you about your PhD - if you had a year for corrections my guess is that you either were not supervised very well or the wrong examiners were appointed. Whatever, you probably could do with chatting to someone else.

Mind you I am biased in favour of the OU.0 -
