    Hey Buffy!!

I love my job but it makes me miserable...especially at the moment!!

As for the marking...I'm finding myself marking late into the night more and more despite the fact I mark in my prep time and during lunchtime and breaks when I can.

    xxx

Yeah that is what I do but I just cannot keep up. I was in tears last night and know I will be in trouble at work sooner or later. Its so horrible. I need toget a grip and get on with it. but feel overwhelmed. utterly.

Fire walker I wish I could do as you suggest but life is just mental at the moment. no down time to do any kind of writing just a battle to keep going. I know that I could devise a workable system but I ams so slow it would mean marking each night to till late.

speaking of which I need to go to bed now.

    thank you both xxx

And MG Good luck in Leeds xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Buffy - what I've done now is mark on my timetable the h/w marking cycle - not sure if you'r eprimary or secondary but we have a 2 week timetable and I've marked on when I'm going to mark their books and when I'm setting h/w. If I don't set the h/w I still don't mark as have a cycle to stick to. This has meant I've got more of a routine and also at a glance know when I should be doing what when.

    Might help a little?

  • Buffy - question..... You say that "work makes you miserable" but that "you love your job" - are you certain that you DO still love the job? Or has it changed gradually and subtly so that it is no longer the job you fell in love with in the first place? I ask because I have only now realised that this was the case with my job, and it is only now, after I have left, that I can actually accept that, in fact, I didn't love the job as it was any more, I loved it as it was when I first started doing it.

If you give this one serious thought and decide that you do still love it, then that's fantastic, and there is room to move on from there. If not, then I would honestly suggest starting to plan towards a change of career. Life is too short to spend 40 hours of your week in an environment that you are unhappy in.

    Hi Buffy,

I would suggest two rather different approaches. One is to keep time diary - not time sheets which are a management tool but a diary where you write what you do, when you do it, why you do it. Keep this for couple of weeks and after that look at it - you will notice patterns; and you will know whether it is really organisation or you are too busy. If you are too busy the whole thing becomes and matter fo prioritisation. If you notice that you 'displace' and waste time - you can decide what to do about it and how to trick yourself into doing the things you are avoiding.

The second is to sit down and write your perfectly organised week - do it as free writing. You will notice that your brain recognises it and that small re-arrangements can bring great results. With me, it was a matter of ring-fencing time for the different activities so that I know what I am doing from the minute I open my eyes, and I don't push out the things I don't like doing.

    Hope this helps.

    Firewalker

Firewalker, this is a brilliant post on writing a time diary - thank you!

EDIT - Buffy's post has prompted a lot of thoughtfulness from several others, as well - I like this page of the diary, going to think about this lot.

MG - good luck today, and tomorrow, tho you've prepared massively, I know. You'll be great!

Plus, I was going to say - I found a site called zazzle today - you can design t shirts and sell them there, someone on an email list of mine mentioned it, it sounds like they've been going quite a while, so they're pretty reliable.

    Claire - best of luck.

All the best for Leeds MG, you're going to create a tidal wave of learning and positivity xx Wish I could come to Leeds for the party, but I reckon KC and I will have to organise a shindig when you come to Brighton - along with any other Matrixers in the area :)

(Make sure you stock up on your favourite hangover cures, you may need them, I reckon you'll be partying your way around the country, lol).

Now........I have a request of the Matrix: does anyone live/work near Milton Keynes snowdome or whatever it's called? Please PM me if you're lovely, honest and could help me out with a christmas present (basically I want to avoid the extortionate postage costs on buying a gift voucher (£5.60 no matter how small the voucher you buy, even a £1 one!!), so if I can post someone a cheque to go and buy and send me the voucher, I'd be eternally grateful)

    Good Morning :)

Well phoned the hospital, there is a bed for me :( getting quite anxious now :( need to be there for 11.

Talking of houses, Dh been reading our local paper and has seen a 4 bed house with basement, £7000 cheaper than our 3 bedroom. So I can have a craft room. and we will have a spare bedroom. Dh is thinking of going to look at it. I'm not sure.

Mg good luck for tomorrow and thank Mrs B for the good wishes.

Trogladyte Great idea about the relay Happy to take part I am in Yorkshire

    Fantasia great news about DD

Buffy - hope that you are able to find a way through - lots of great suggestions on here. I always used to say I did not have time to find a way to organise myself but you may find that a little time now will free up lots of time later and will be time very well spent

Great news about all those finally on the Forum and hope everyone else is sorted out soon

Hope I haven't missed anyone - serves me right for spending too long on Hypno's thread yesterday - wouldn't have needed such a long post today
  • Positive vibes coming your way Claire for today.

A special space for your crafts would be nice so I would see the house and you will know if it is right for you or not straight away but don't just dismiss it the universe may have sent it especially for you

    Hugs

    DTxx

TDQ I have just seen your post I will bring the shirts I have already in case I don't get many on the 23rd in which case it will be cheaper to courier them than to drive to Hertfordshire thank you you are a star. See you tomorrow.
