Had a guy turn up one day looking for a Pharmacy conference - that happened the day before:D
We invited him to stay though.....
................ and I had a teacher once who swore he would never use the techniques as they were "childish" who got caught out later in the week dancing on his table teaching the kids about the solar system.
He got caught because his kids gave him a standing ovation BTW.
So I sent him some juggling balls and told him to keep playing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I could never remember which fog light was front & which was back as buttons weren't clear. I spent ages trying to work out how to remember top = back. Then I thought of the other combination: bottom = front.
I reckon I can remember 'front bottom' :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Holy Cow!
I have been trying for the past week or so to get to the end of the thread...finally made it only to find out I was reading the old one not this one!! I knew it was too good to be true!:p
Now can someone tell me is the great football shirt hunt still on? If so I should be able to get some people on board.:D
If anyone sells things online pop me a pm and I will give you the email address of the nice lady who runs the local NHS Trust website, she will advertise your website on the 'intranet' as long as you offer a discount to NHS workers (any discount is acceptable but looking through the ads I see about 10% is the norm):)
I look forward to catching up with this thread sometime in the next few years, although I have to warn you hubby already thinks i'm having some sort of on-line afair as I have hardly spoken to him over the last week or so, so intent I was in catching up!:o

Lots of interest overnight and lots to think about.
Giving formal homework to primary school children makes me angry.
DD3 has a July birthday so started school when she was just 4 and was immediately expected to do homework (practise writing her letters). She is a strong willed person and either refused or took hours over it. Hours when we could have been doing something pleasant or useful. I complained to the school but the damage had been done and she had been turned off learning so by the time she was in high school she was 1 or 2 years behind and had labelled herself slow. However it's not all bad news fortunately 1)she's naturally bright 2) we talk about all sorts at home and analyse everything which gives her an advantage 3) she's talented at art 4) when she was about 9 she discovered Harry Potter and turned overnight into an avid reader.
I think my ramblings are saying do not despair if your daughter is difficult at 8, there is time for things to turn round naturally, keep talking to her and keep her reading.0 -
KC - I'm another one where these ideas don't work for me, as you said it means remembering lots of extra bits. For me mnemonics only tend to work short term, but long term they vanish unless used regularly.
But everyone is different - it's what makes meeting people fun0 -
