  • Have decided to make an addition to my 50 day challenge:

To find a tutor for DS1.

I've mentioned before that he is very dyslexic and his lack of independent learning skills is starting to really concern me. He starts comprehensive school in 5 terms and he will be lost to the system if something doesn't change soon. If anybody has any experience of finding a tutor for a dyslexic child and can give me any hints I would be very grateful. MG it sounds like your having school problems to - I've missed this in the thread so will have to backtrack. If anybody knows which page to start on let me know!

The most recent problem is in the last 2 days so may be 5 pages back max?

Morning all, welcome to November! :j And the 50 day challenge! :j :j

MG - I'm sure you will figure something out for your son. Must be a very upsetting time for you all though :( Any more luck/inspiration with getting a teacher in to teach DS (and possibly the other boy?) Good luck xx

Had a lovely weekend away at the seaside with friends, and did lots of thinking about my 50 day challenge. Here's the result:

    (1) finish PhD
    (2) be ready for Christmas (both presents and holiday)
    (3) remain healthy (mentally and physically!) while doing both :D

More details to work out, but that's on today's list :j
  • JC Good luck with the interview - sounds like the outfit you have mentioned last is the one as you sound really positive about that one, whereas you sounded uncertain about all the other options, if that makes sense?

Daffs - Glad the weekend was ace! :D

MG - You said it yourself - there are ten months until the problem with the school becomes a "real" problem. For your own peace of mind and that of DS1 you need a solution in place "Soonest" - but even if we cut that timescale in half and say "In five months time we will have a solution to the problem with the school" that's still LOTS of time. Simple solutions needed first off I suspect - how about a petition of support? You can presumably contact parents buit past and present, including getting those who have removed their kids to detail to you exactly why they have done that. That may be your starting point to take to the board as "evidence" that there IS still a place for those classes within the environment, and more than that, they are essential to the future wellbeing of the kids coming up through the baby classes.

:eek: To start of 50 day challenge. I need to start giving some constructive thought to how I need to work through things I think. It's one thing committing to do these things, but another entirely to "actually" do them. However, one thing at a time, baby steps etc! :)

Right - off to try to sort out another file's account - I did most of them on friday and just have the 4 tricky ones left - one already done this morning proves that it is amazing how "fresh eyes" can help as the problem leapt off the page at me. Onto the next then...!

Back for 5 minutes :) just having a coffee break.

I have decided to make my 50 day challenge as follows.

get the whole house decluttered and downstairs refurbished :) the bathroom has been finished apart from new lights being installed and coving, (need to save some money for this) the kitchen is done apart from a row of tiles need a second coat of tile paint which I will do in the week. Living room 3 walls painted and nearly de cluttered, just need last wall papered, (my neighbour came in earlier and put the pasting table down and away so I could clean, and offered to come in and paper the wall :) so the corner between the 2 settees needs sorting and some shelves, I've de cluttered and cleaned the fireplace up this morning.

Dining room _well where to start?????????? master bedroom was done yesterday ds1 room was done last week, they just need decorating (after xmas) just leaves ds2 room :)

hallway and stairs need a touch up of paint, and we are hoping to take the stair cupboard out and have open plan so I can have a craft space out there :)

    2) sort all the craft stuff out and have a proper storage place for it.

    3) be ready for xmas by the 20th dec.

    4) loose 7lb by xmas

    5) do wii fit everyday.

  • Hi

    Lurker here

Would like to join matrix, based in Glasgow so may be interestd in meetups.

is there a particular theme or guidelines for 50 day challenge? I'm going to try it as it fits in with getting ready for christmas and getting some of my goals done from earlier challenges posted on DFW daily chat a while back.

Morning all. MG, I must admit I don't understand the ins and outs of your school situation, tho it sounds an absolute nightmare, to be at the mercy of the whim of someone is so selfish and had seemed to be so sincere.... my heart goes out to your DS, he sounds so lovely (well, they both do!) and as someone has just said, I think, there is a while to go yet, enough for you to find the right solution, especially when you're focussed the way you are now ....

I've been thinking of my 50 day challenge. It seemed quite simple but turned out not to be! There are bogstandard things that must be done, and take up so much time they need to be in there, and there are big developments afoot for me that need to be included, and new things that need to be in there too, if I'm to have the healthy life I want. So there's quite a list........

    1. Being on mse for the inspiration from and connection to the community, on a day to day and a deeper level, and for the money neutral way of living my life, through deals and offers on craftwork, special occasions, days out and holidays.

    2. Stopping fiddling about with surveys and vouchers and looking at the big picture. I'm finished with toluna, butlins and mystery shopping, hurray! I'll cary on with Virgin and TAB scratches, pigsback (another 200/3000 points needed, then finished) Yougov (£33/£50 then finish), possibly lightspeed. Inspite of carrying on with these, to remember always to step back frequently to see the overall perspective.

    3. Getting my second income stream up and running, to provide for the pleasant, abundant retirement that I want, in the time released by (2) above..

    4. Get well! Stay well and get fit! Get some local social input and keep it!

    5. Make my new house liveable - building work finished, new flooring down. There are lots more bits, but those two things will mean I can use the whole house, not just one or two rooms.

    6. incorporate my spiritual practice into everyday life.7. Finish my accounts - mid November for the English ones, end November for the French. And I'm going to copy this over to my diary...

Girls (and Mike) I need a bit of guidance!

I have an interview tomorrow - big firm of accountants and its a job I want.... If their website is to be believed then they run their business on the same principles that I try to run my life to!

So...what do I wear??? I'm a big girl - and in proportion; 5'10 big bazookers, big feet (big belly...you get the picture....) and suits just do nothing for me! so my options are

    1. A lonline navy jacket and long skirt with a plain T-shirt - downside is the jacket fitted better before I packed in smoking....

    2. a long black dress - very flattering but in a jersey material with matching short sleve jersey jacket - lovely hangy thing on the front to. Hubby said to wear this as I look pretty in it (his words) and I feel very comfortable wearing this outfit but its not 'businessy'

    3. animal printy vest top thingy with attached long line light grey jersey jacket with dark grey pinstripe trousers.

The job is for accounting technicain (my workwear at the moment is trousers and a top and more casual than I think would be suitable to this firm)

I know there are lots of accountants here - and Souk - HELP!!!

    PS - I mind mapped the website....love it :D

    The long black dress.
