    Morning all

Busy day for me but didn't want to read and run!

Dirtyepic - can you start a memory box? buy cards for birthdays and christmas, little gifts, write letters or a journal about the things that are happening in your life that you would have shared with them, letters telling them that you love them and are missing them (not really 'deep' emotional ones) so that the day they come back into your life (and they WILL) you can demonstrate to them how important they have remained to you. Would you other sister pass on photographs to you and keep you updated on their progress?

Look what I found in my in-box this morning - found at 2.55am today by the lady determined to be my Admin Angel.

    http://www.ted.com/talks/sir_ken_robinson_bring_on_the_revolution.html

I had moan to her last night about how I hadn't heard what was going to be happening with the school - apparently the HT was making her decision yesterday, but still no news.

I am decidedly quaking inside - and trying to justfy taking the easy route and look to place my DS1 in one of the local schools.

The thing is, DS1 is in a school that ticks all the points the the lovely Ken Robinson talks about - and I love watching him present, he is so calm, so still - the complete opposite of the passionate energiser bunny that is Memorygirl onstage.:rotfl::rotfl:

So today I grab my sons future in both hands and am going to create a powerteam of 50 people willing to advise and support me in saving this fabulous school for the children it.

Off to grab my Mind Mapping kit and contacts book...................... back soon

................. well I'm of to post my 50 days challenges on the Matrix first but YSWIM?

Many many years ago, one of the best teachers I have ever had taught us to speed read. She said it was one of the most useful things she could teach us.

    MG have you seen this

I have asked DS for it for chrimbo, as my new job - starting Monday, will involve all sorts of Six Sigma stuff and will need to have brainstorming meetings etc. You can get software to go with it that transcribes your handwriting too.

OMG - I have spend I don't know how long not wantng anything for myself and concentrating on providing for the boys - but how cool is that???

Maybe when I am off and rolling I could invest in something like this, goodness how useful would that be whilst travelling - in the meantime, onto my dream wall it goes.

    MG

P its only 8 more books than the 9 I need to sell a week - so maybe, maybe, maybe one day soon.

  • Oh he (and Rikki Fulton) are remembered often and quoted frequently in the house.

Wallie used to let rooms to "poor theatricals" when I was at Perth Rep - saved my sanity many a time with his anecdotes and wicked sense of comedy timing.

Are you talking about the house in King Street???? (Although I thought that belonged to Leon Sinden and he didn't stay there)

Thank you all for your thoughts and sharing your experiences of toxic family members.

Very, very long story - cut very short. My biological family is severely dysfunctional: alcoholic father; alcoholic brother; passive-agressive, narcissistic, enabling mother.

My role as eldest child within the addiction chaos was that of family "caretaker" - from my earliest memory I looked after everyone, a very common role for the eldest child in dysfunctional families.

Alcoholic father died 23 years ago; broke contact with alcoholic brother last year (best decision for my own family). Have now reached end of the road with my mother. As they say in addiction circles, "I'm done" - all I want is to leave the chaos behind; all I want now is my serenity.

So, yes after she set me off again today and I spent the day stuffing food in my mouth trying to squash down all the negative emotions - part of my 50 day plan will be to eliminate contact with my last remaining toxic family member, my mother. Feeling calmly positive and very much at ease for having finally reached a decision.

First and most important is number one, YOU. Take care of you and forget everyone else until you feel up to it. I don't believe 'family is family' although I've had many a debate with friends about that.... Good luck and look after yourself :)
