Lol The whole thread will be applying MG. In my favour though I'm only down the road, or 'doon the brae' lol.

    *sniffle* You lot are fabulous!

Hmmm... well, I have nice blue eyes. And a nose that is a triumph of genetics (everyone else in my close family have really big noses... and mine is much more button shaped!). My hair is always shiny, and I have a good haircut that suits me and is easy to style. I think thats it.

I suspect that's not "it" but if that's what you feel comfortable with for the moment, then fine. I have blue eyes and a little button shaped nose too, and there are plenty of people out there who would envy your head of shining hair and would indeed pay a fortune for the products to aquire it (from Avon, remember your Avon rep ladies! :D) as well.

What a great deal of sense you write here! Thanks EH

Who - me? Sense? Nah, must have been the next girl! Seriously though, thanks Crickett - really feels nice to think that I can help someone. :kisses3:

Oooooh, I have done this before! :D I have always been big. Always. I am never going to be a skinny minny, that is for sure. When I really started to get big was when I went to Uni and was cooking and eating for myself. I made bad food choices as a form of rebellion from my very strict parents. I escaped them and with them went my sense. I drank too much, ate too much and even started smoking. (Though I went cold turkey from the smoking when I worked out how much extra beer I could drink if i did! :D) And if I am brutally honest, I am still rebelling from my parents. Even though I moved out 15 years ago and have my own life and really rarely see them. I just need to stop rebelling!! :o

    Me neither! :o

OK - deep stuff coming on.....is there any issue here that you need to clear I wonder? You say you rarely see your parents - your choice, their choice, or whatever, they are the only ones you have. If seeing them would *really* make your life worse, then fair enough, however are you certain that the resentment hanging over from your strict upbringing if not causing you problems that are affecting not only the way you live your life, but the way you feel in your own skin? Was YOUR strict upbringing the result of the way that their parents brought THEM up I wonder? If so, that was the only example they had, and they may have simply been trying to do a tough job the only way they knew how? Apologies if I'm way off the mark here, it was just the question that jumped out at me when I read your remarks above.....

Thanks for the compliment Mary. That photo was taken quite a few years ago now...and i could do with losing more than I had then. :eek:It is scary really [STRIKE]how much I need to lose[/STRIKE]. how much I am going to lose. [STRIKE]The amount in my signature is the least I need to lose[/STRIKE]. I am going to lose weight by means of healthy eating and some exercise, because it will make me feel better, healthier and more energetic. However, in the positive spirit... If I got there once.. I can get there again.

Couple of small corrections made above.......

I'll come and be your assistant as long as you can arrange for me, my partner, my life, work, and perhaps entire city to be transported round the corner from your house :D And, er, I might need an assisstant too, as I'm not much good at organising paperwork either :rotfl:

(I'm learning though, and I'm learning that life is much easier and better when you do it! :j)

Crickett, I too am marvelling at the lovely posts on here in response to what you said. One thing I read a while back that made an impact on me was that when you start to *do* something with your body (in the context of exercise), then you start to *see* yourself differently, and feel differently about yourself - and apparently it's not just related to what you actually *look* like - it's more about feeling like your body is 'useful', 'active' or whatever, rather than basing your assessment of it on looks alone (because then you start to say 'I don't look right' and things). So - do you do any exercise? Can you walk a little more than you do now? What about something like yoga that is quite low impact, but involves stretching and toning and being flexible? Or swimming? Getting more of a feel for what your body can *do* might help you feel more positive about it! (and of course, there might just be the added bonus of changing your shape a little if that's what you want!)

Cherisong - what you said about underwear struck a chord with me today :D We've been talking about the fact that all of the women most of us know (well, those whose underwear drawers we know about anyway! :rotfl:) have several pairs of saggy, grey, old, holey knickers :D There's generally an excuse about wearing them as emergency ones when the others are in the wash - but if we didn't have them, there'd be other, nicer, ones that wold become the 'emergency' ones (because we all know we wouldn't actually wash any more often! :rotfl:)

Anyway, I made a pact with Mr Daffs that 2011 will be the year I ONLY wear nice, well fitting, non-holey underwear :D That doesn't mean ludicrously expensive, it just means not ancient multipacks with holes in :rotfl: I've been putting off getting measured for a new bra because I want to lose about 1.5 stones - but I've been putting that off for over a year and still haven't lost it :o So, like Crickett, I deserve to look and feel good NOW! So between now and Christmas, I'll be squirrelling away pennies here and there, getting measured, and finding some *nice* underwear that fits, matches, feels comfortable and looks good!

(and in case poor old Mr Daffs starts to feel misrepresented, this isn't just about titilation  :rotfl: He's always been more interested in clothes than me, is very stylish (not fashionable in the slightest, but stylish, and believes a bit of pride in your appearance gives you what he calls 'swagger' and what I might call a feeling of glamourous self confidence :D)

So, first of all, why wait until 2011? If you buy a matching set of undies, wear them, regardless of whether it is this side of new year or not!

I have to say, this is one thing that I HAVE done since OH left (including a visit to La Perla.....the outlet shop so very MSE ). No one ever gets to see the gorgeous stuff I have, but it certainly makes me feel better, and I ditched anything that was remotely unflattering, however comfortable it may have been!!

And now, I have those little compartments in my drawer that give each item its own space. DD says that I now have knicker OCD. I say that there are worse things I could be obsessive about :o

If nothing else, I need not worry about being run over by a bus and taken to hospital......might even get a dishy doctor in the process :rotfl:

I don't see my parents much because they live 4 hours drive away. That was their choice, not mine. They think I should uproot my life and go and live closer to them.

I appreciate your comments and 37 years of life have proven to me that youare correct. Mum and Dad were both brought up by strict and stern parents and therefore that is the way they brought me up, and they did the best they knew how. However there are certain aspects of my adolescence and young adult hood that I really do not want to go into here which were extremely hurtful and very damaging. And that is the bit that I am rebelling from. And at 37 I ought to know better, but habits like that are hard to break. :o

And thanks for those corrections! :A

Yes... good point. I do need to do more exercise and I have a gym membership that is being wasted at the moment. :o Unfortunately... work has totally got in the way this month, so I need to go back. I think tomorrow night will be my first visit back... it can't be tonight because I have an appointment with my homeopath, but tomorrow night is definite!

I am having trouble walking at the moment because I have plantar fascitis and it is giving me hell. But I am still doing it from building to building and I try and get up and walk around if I am at my desk for any length of time too. However, I do love swimming (and I am good at it! :D). I loathe the gym.

Thanks for the reminder to get back to it. :A
