No, its ok - just feeling sorry for myself in a very shallow way. Fuelled by turning 40 in 3 weeks and getting fed up of reading all about old school friends lovely statuses on facebook saying how their lovely husbands have whisked them off to New York for their birthday, or whose fab friends have made their day extra special blah blah blah.

And am just feeling pants that mine will be a normal Tuesday night...

I really want the "life begins" element of it to be kicking in right now, but am just feeling a bit sorry for myself instead.

I'll be alright.....I'll get my mojo back, my 40s will be fabulous, and I will be whisked off to many lovely places with many lovely people in due course.

Perhaps I just need an early night

Oh thats a b*gger .... okay, its not life and death, but you've worked so hard and so long, and you've had a carp first half of this year .... it has turned round already, you know - I've noticed your clothes buyng, for instance, you sound like you dress much better than you used to (I'm still stuck in the old paths of scumminess, so I notice these things). Thats the start, your house is probably coming next. You've got a good social network from the sound of it ...

you know, on my 40th - erm, my parents took me and a group of close friends to a posh local restaurant.... no New York. And I thought it was the bees' knees....

Okay, the comparison is unavoidable, I'm sorry, Hypno - you *will* go to the ball. Keep shining.

Thank you, like I say, I know it is shallow, but I also know that sometimes it is the strangest of emotions that seem to be all encompassing when you least expect them to be

I suppose that if I have waited 40 years for life to begin, it won't do me any harm to wait just a little longer!

I didn't say before - I don't think its shallow! The trigger might *sound* shallow, but its about your life ... thats not shallow, no way.

If it's any consolation Hypno, they're probably in debt up to their eye balls and at least some will be wishing they were footloose and fancy free - oh, and a size 8

I spent my 40th in Charlie Chalks with my kids and two of their school friends:eek: so no high life here either although OH did take me away for my 50th so it may not be this birthday but there will be others
