  • Yeah, that's weird. I got my router in the post a few days after I signed up to them, which I thought was strange as I'm sure I read they send it after the engineer has visited? Better for me though, I guess!

I was told by Sky that it was BT Openreach's timescale of 10-14 days to get me live...although it was at the short end of that scale, who knows what's right?

It is a brand new line, brand new house and the could still be testing the line. I best get over 2mb though!

Ross is checking the system to see if I have been added. I state, for the God-knows-how-many-eth time, I have been enquiring since the 1st of October. Now on day 40 of the elusive 42. I wonder what will happen when we actually get to this stage?

I have been told it "could still be on Friday"...yep...

And as you can possibly tell, I've gone passed the caring stage and finding it quite funny ringing up and seeing what reasons I am getting now. I'll draft up a letter to O2 one day soon...anyone want me to add anything in it? I'll mention someone else had exactly the same problem (Vixi) and that I have posted the escapades of some poor individual on in internet forum which has had over 4,000 views too.

On Friday, Mark told me I still wasn't on the system and then said that the 6 week period starts "from when Capscan send them the information" (even, as I was told, it has to be requested from them). Posed the question "Why do you use Capscan?" and couldn't answer it. He spoke to his manager at the same time and had a laugh with him saying it does take the Michael, to which he agreed.

Either way, Sky up and running now (after it wouldn't let me set my network up on my laptop, but did on my PS3, so had to alter the setup settings, ya-di-ya) and was 6mb at peak time which is good enough for me.

I will keep ringing once or twice a week to see when I get added. It is quite comical though.
  • At least you are up and running ok now.

I'm still not on O2 either, it's like they just don't want our business! It felt like Sky and Virgin Media did everything in their power to try and solve the issue whereas O2 are content to wait for the red tape to magically disappear by itself. If they can't keep up with the competition why don't they just stick to mobile phones?

I'm so glad I stopped faffing around with them, but it would be interesting to see how long it would have actually taken.

They probably just pick the low hanging fruit. They are so cheap it probably isn't cost effective to bust a gut over a new customer when the majority come their way with very little effort on their part.

From when my BT line went live to when my O2 BBand was up and running was under a week,HOWEVER I have had nothing but problems with my billing. At first the DD went OK but then I changed my mobile number. They gave me a used number & I could not access my O2 billing account for anything as they had linked the previous owners number & account details to my account.........

Then they had a problem with my billing because as my account was linked to that other person, the was no mobile on my BBand account so I lost the discount, eventually that was sorted after many phonecalls.....For which I was given a credit of £7.50 in June, even tho I got cut off because the DD failed &,because I couldn't access my account nor did they send me any text alert,I didn't know about it!
I even got phonecalls from O2 to my BT landling looking for the person my details were registered too!

Then in August I got a text telling me I owed two months BBand..so I queried this, looks like the £7.50 credit given to me was not given to me so I ended up paying two months instead of the one. After much hagling I was given £5.00 credit for my trouble!!!!

I have only had one issue of service interuption, for which a line fault was diagnosed after the O2 tech I spoke to said it was a faulty router & sent me a new one!!(nice..I have a spare!)

Their BBand is one of the best around & I have no quibbles with it but their customer service & tech support leaves a lot to be desired.

After loving having a constant 7.8mbps at all times (*touch wood*) for the past few weeks...shall we see if I am up on O2's system yet?

    ...

You got it! Still not on there...the first house is number 14 and it takes up to 6 weeks to be added to the system as Laura politely told me. Day 53 of 42...oh well...

Back through to Ceri (spoke to him previously twice) and still not on the system. Asked why and he can't explain the choices of the the company and how this process should work. Getting more and more people who are being rejected for this reason, even advised me to get a line with someone else then come back for the broadband.

Sky is still running lovely :D

    Day 59 of 42.

Ringing up (walking back from the post office with freezing cold hands) and Gio answers my call. Same old story. Still not on system, starts at number 14, can take up to 6 weeks...then get "I'll put you through to the department who deal with this" (isn't that you?!?!) and...cut off!

    Day 68 of 42.
