How to save many £1000s and hundreds of hours

Recognise a gold digger early and run like the wind. Normally I would say run to the other side of the world but that would be costly and time consuming.

Unfortunately I have become very cynical about women that have little to their name other than a job and rented accommodation. They are usually looking for some poor shmuck to get them out of their situation and propel them into the chanels, armanis and luis vittons.

These women are heartless, DON'T feel sorry for them, get rid of them as soon as you recognise the tell tale signs.
The main one being they have a hissy fit when you don't buy them something expensive.

This site is all about saving money, well this will save you many £1000s.

It is too late for me . I'm down £3500 don't think I'll see it again but it is better than my position of 18 months ago:) so I'm smiling.
I hope to hear some success stories

Don't tar us all with the same brush....you must have been getting something out of the relationship too otherwise you would not have spent or given her all that money. If this woman took you for a ride, you must carry some of the blame. perhaps you were flattered?

Yes some people are heartless and will take people for what they can get, but don't lose faith in the good ones out there.

Hey look at it this way Rooney paid £1500 a night for ahem 'adult company' - you got 18 months for £3500- thats a bargain in anyones books LOL!

Joking aside, Don't get bitter...move on and you'll find the right woman eventually.

    Flippin women eh :D

I remember a few years ago ex and I agreed not to buy each other christmas presents as we had zero money - so I didn't get her anything. She got all stroppy on Christmas day when I presented her with nothing, despite the fact that she hadn't got me anything either :rotfl:

Generally I'd suggest women (and men, lets be honest) who want high value gifts and nothing else will do can be classed as high maintenance rather than gold diggers - they're not necessarily out to drain your bank account, they just equate more money spent with more affection. Wrong clearly, but there you go. I think most men come across women like that at some point, I know I did, and you go with it because they always have their good points to balance out the bad stuff.

Incidentally I spent about £1,000 on a surprise birthday holiday for my ex and then was duly dumped a month later as 'the spark had gone'. Not sure how you get much sparkier than surprise foreign travel but such is life.

I'm happy to be with my wife now, a woman who appreciates the value of a heartfelt homemade gift, something that only cost financial peanuts, but was expensive in time and love invested in it.

I'm not tarring you with the same brush. I was specific about the gold digger variety.

I haven't stayed with her for the last 18 months - i'm better off than 18 months ago because I managed to claw some of it back.

That money was one lump loan to help her out. I'm not counting the money I spent on her as a girlfriend prior to 18 months ago the issue with going out money is it was never appreciated.

    No mate,
the damage was done 18 months ago.

  • Look, if it is not too much, later on tonight, I am taking my two b1tc4e5 down the Dog and Duck, and Brenda will ensure they lap it up. You could come along to, and see that with Brenda, £20 goes a long way, normally about 8:30.

Years ago Freda was too tied up to get out, but she may come along as well, she is a good listener, but a tired and ragged dishwasher nowadays!

    That is good balanced talk.
I knew a girl that was high maintenance but would herself always reciprocate. But god help the boyfriend that didn't get her a birthday present. The current boyfriend doesn't break the birthday present rules so he is still in favour.:rotfl:

Mine decided I wasn't right for her once she got a cash lump loan from me that got her out of the ghetto. No bank would lend her broke a_rse any money. She gave me some back recently and told me to wait 5 years for the rest, wink wink. Had she been decent, like your current wife, and made a go of it with me I would have written off the loan as a gift.

Yeah but that is £140 a week. That is a mortgage mate!
