Haha I have been ebaying a load of stuff that doesn't fit - some shoes sold today actually
Another £20 off the card/more presents? Decisions decisions!

Right back to work then after a (rather extended!) xmas break!!
I've not being doing very well really with saving money on things/paying off my debts in the past few weeks, so haven't been posting, which loops back round to making me feel like working on it! BLEH! It's a vicious cycle! :rotfl:
So anyway, I've still paid off some money from my credit card, only £100 because I've been spending money on presents and nights out and yummy treat food, but it's still more than the minimum so that's something at least
I'm going to set myself a few challenges for next year though to help with spending, I'll try and keep up with them here, it's easier to work on specific things than just constantly thinking DON'T SPEND DON'T SPEND DON'T SPEND DON'T SPEND!!
***2011 Challenges***
- Don't buy any books until all the ones on your shelf have been read! Using bookmooch is OK! Same rule applies to DVDs - WHY do I have so many that I've never watched?! Either I want to watch them or I can get rid of them surely??
- No buying magazines (except for TV choice!!), I don't end up reading them and I've got a Grazia subscription anyway to keep me upto date on celeb gossip and fashion news!
- ONE takeaway a month - this would save me and my fella a small fortune, and it doubles up with not wasting the food that we end up buying anyway, then being too [STRIKE]knackered[/STRIKE] lazy to cook!
- Everytime I withdraw ANY money from my Paypal account, use half of it to pay off some of my credit card. If I leave money in my PP I end up spending it on more stuff I don't need anyway, and this way it means I have some extra money in my bank (a nice meal out maybe??) and also work on my debt

- Have a night "off" once a week - no internet, no studying, sort the food out the night before, just come home, pamper myself and watch a trashy film I don't need to think about! Being stressed out makes me more inclined to buy things I don't want or need, making time to relax will hopefully help against this

"Accidentally" paid off more from my credit card than I really wanted to this month! Getting paid early (before xmas) meant that when I sent payment it landed on last month's statement, so I needed to make a minimum payment before next months wage will go in. Frustrating yes but good in a way! :T0

Went into town today and had a peruse through the Boots sale goodies - found a No7 makeup bag gift set which will be perfect for my mum for mothers day, a Guiness beer & cufflinks set which will be great for my other half for valentines day and a FCUK gift set in a lovely metallic purple bag for me! Altogether it came to £24 which I thought was bloody good, got to the till though and the Shop4All gift card thing I got for Christmas wouldn't go through
I'm not sure if it is a problem with the card itself or the people behind the till (they called a manager over who had no idea what to do with it either) so I used a £10 Love2Shop voucher I got from work and had to stump up £14 anyway
Still at least I got some advantage points??

Sorted out a load of stuff and flogged it online - another £80 made so as soon as that lands it my bank I want to send £40 to my CC

Going to the cinema with my fella tomorrow, got a Vue giftcard for xmas so that's a nice cheap outing! Use my bus pass, watch a free film then round to my sisters for a New Years party = free food! :T
2/2 NSD - sounds like a good start to the year to me

Well done on the sales ruby, hope you have a good day out today!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Thank you jwil we did have a lovely day

So, ordered my shopping online today - it does irritate me doing this as £3 delivery seems a lot when I could get the stuff for free from a supermarket and actually get what I ordered rather than some bonkers substitutions, but I can't drive and I don't want to have to go back out after work so £3 it shall have to be!
Also packed up all the things I'd sold - £10.91 postage - not bad for £80ish worth of stuff I didn't think?
Back to work tomorrow - it feels like AGES since I've been (I last worked on xmas eve!) and I'm not exactly looking forward to being back at work, but being at home for so long has been a bit strange - especially as neither of us drive and with there being so many bank holidays we couldn't really go anywhere - and we're both skint anyway! So having an excuse to leave the house every day will be a bit of a novelty for a while

Took all of the xmas decorations down today
The house always looks really dull and boring when they first go down so I'm feeling a bit glum.
Asda shopping arrived - well some of it did - I need to go to Morrisons after work tomorrow to get tomatoes, bananas, satsumas, spinach, pears, fromage frais & pork mince. SIGH.
Sold a load of old magazines today - my rack was stuffed full and now it's not so woohoo! The epic clearout continues
On the selling community I use though, someone listed a black flapper dress for SEVEN POUNDS. How could I say no to that?!?! Ever since seeing Wild Target and watching Emily Blunt running round in one I've wanted one, and for 7 quid, after selling £29 worth of magazines I thought that was OK. I really shouldn't have bought the top I got with it though. Or the eyeliner & cookie cutters I also found that I bought. Grrr I'm so annoyed with myself!! They are things I want, and they were cheap, but it's not life or death getting them so I feel like I should have waited/not bothered at all. At least I've paid off extra credit card money already with some sales cash - AND I have to return some shoes that arrived today and are GORGEOUS - but unfortunately broken (and probably impossible to walk in so it's just as well:()
So I just have to move on from that blip! I didn't actually spend any money, I just didn't make as much as I should have from selling things, which is frustrating, but I will have to remember this for next time. Also the extra money back from my shoes can be thrown straight at my CC as it's essentially free money because I thought I'd be keeping the shoes :T0 -
Well done on the ebay sales and doing so well on your clearout! At least your purchases were covered by the sales."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
