I really do think that they should only be for organised displays though, they can do a lot of damage when irresponsible people get hold of them.

I completely agree. Not once, but twice since I've lived in this area some morons have managed to set trees on fire with fireworks, last year being a tree located in an elderly couple's back garden.

Here they're often going off until 2am, it's quite frustrating.

the other option to try is Zylkene.suitable for cats and dogs. no prescription required but u will need to get it from ur vets, it can also be mixed with feliway/dap.

You don't need to go through your vet you can buy it on line, I've used it on Arran who has fear aggression but it didn't work. There is something else I'm trying with Arran with a wee bit of success and that's stuff called stress-less by Nupafeed. Those of you that are trying the dap stuff, my sister uses it on her dogs but what she has is the spray which she sprays on bandanna's that her dogs wear, she says it lasts a lot longer and seems to be more effective than the other dap products. Lastly you could always think about getting a body wrap for your dog or just use an old tee-shirt wrapped tightly around your dog. I've not tried some of these things but I do know people who have.

Same here. They even do it at 7am/8am in the morning when it's light outside. I don't get it?! Money up in smoke, literally.

We bought the noise Cd, you wouldnt believe it really but TJ wasnt bothered at all with the noises from it. It was like he knew they were not the real thing.

We will just stick with the tried and tested (for us) rescue remedy, and the TV turned up a few notches. Lets hope it rains every night until January the 2nd.

    Chris n TJ
RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxx
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
  • My cat likes the fireworks strangely enough. He will happily ask to go out and sit and watch/listen. Weirdo

Hehehe. We've tried our one with youtube clips of fireworks for dogs that someone kindly uploaded and he responds like they're the real thing so hopefully it will work :)

My dogs don't seem to be afraid of fireworks.
One ignores them completely, the other thinks they are birds and tries to chase after them. :rotfl:

    My cat likes them too!
Before we moved house we lived opposite a park in Manchester where they have a massive display ever year. She used to sit in the bedroom window with us and watch them go up whilst purring! haha

My other cat wasnt at all bothered and slept all the way through!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

They haven't started here yet Thankfully! Our dog, when we first got her, used to wee herself everytime she heard them. She was a rescue and scared of everything bless her. Now she growls back a them. :rotfl: I really do think that they should only be for organised displays though, they can do a lot of damage when irresponsible people get hold of them.
Problem is, a ban will not work because people still get them thru the blackmarket in the face of a sales/privateuse ban,but the quality/safety and performance could be more lethal and potentially very dangerous even deadly and that could well result in more casualties. I have NO problems with sensible people who let them off safely and properly at home and at bonfire parties, that sort of sensible use shouldn't be curtailed at all, it's the idiots that misuse them that should be jumped on by the police and prosecuted. Why take away what millions of people have enjoyed for years and don't cause problems with? I personally wouldn't but would come down extremely hard on youths and idiots who misuse them.
