It's that time of year when our pets need to be cared for just a little bit more.

Been seeing lots of D.A.P and (forgot the cat version) adverts.

So dug my little bottle out to find its empty.

So will be off to buy some today, and start spraying the house, or get the plug in.. or collar not sure yet.

New home this year and although my neighbours around me are mostly elderly we do have a few teens loitering around.



Just thought i'd share with you all.. as a reminder.

A great reminder for everyone mupette thankyou.

The DAP plugin didint seem to work for TJ, I havnt heard of a collar. Has anyone used one please, did they seem to help?

The firework season has already started here, poor TJ hates them. We use rescue remedy and it does help, but will try anything.

Please share your tips, every idea is helpful.

No reminder needed here I'm afraid - why is it they start so early?

Each night now, we have lots of fireworks going off, they start mid-afternoon when it's still light :question: !! And continue until after midnight. The bangers just seem to get louder and louder every year, some of them rattle the windows and scare the hell out of me, never mind our poor animals.

Thankfully, the cats don't seem to take any notice of them. The dogs, however, both react. You can tell they are scared and they bark continuosly, so we've started turning the TV up louder when they start, and when we go to bed we are now leaving a small radio on for the dogs which will mask the sound of most of the fireworks.

They haven't started here yet Thankfully! Our dog, when we first got her, used to wee herself everytime she heard them. She was a rescue and scared of everything bless her. Now she growls back a them. :rotfl: I really do think that they should only be for organised displays though, they can do a lot of damage when irresponsible people get hold of them. :eek:

I got some tablets from the vets 2 years ago and still have some for Perry, but it knocked the poor fella out that he wet himself in his bed, don't really want to resort to those.

I used DAP in the car because he used to get car sick.

I would be interested in people think these work well in the home, moved just over 4 months ago, and Perry although he loves his new home with garden, just follows me everywhere, yes everywhere, and i'd like to stop that a bit as i feel that he hasn't quite settled into his new home enough to relax and let his guard down on protecting me.

Just spoke to the new vets, Perry's yearly jabs are now due, actually slightly overdue, so 11.am he will be done. spoke to the receptionist and she recommends the collar, said it only works for about 4 weeks but she said you know when it is time to replace.

2 of my cats normally get a wee bit freaked so I just have to keep an eye on them. The other 4 are fine. In fact one of our Moggies likes fireworks she'll sit at the window and watch them.

Our dog isn't to bad either.

This will be Kiah's first bonfire night so we don't know how she will react.

They haven't started here yet so only time will tell, but we've recently had thunder and lightning and I've never seen her so scared, I'm dreading the fireworks if I'm honest...

Back from vets, jabs all up-to-date
and a dap plug in now installed in hall way.

Perry is in love.. with the vet, she gave him loads of attention and treats... didn't flinch with the jab.. and a quick anal squeeze as he was a bit swollen all in the price. even after all that he was panting a lil but that wagging tail gave the game away.

Really nice vets compared to the last one who made me stay outside with him because he is a barker.

They have parking right outside i stayed in the car with him until it was time, they let me take him back to the car before going back to pay..
really nice people.

Perry had a good sniff of the defuser so hope that helps him chill out.
getting a collar in a fortnight to cover 2 weeks before fireworks and 2 weeks after, unless i hear them earlier.

Arw, that's what we do with our pooch, keep him outside until we're called. We used the DAP collar and it had no effect on our dog. We have got the spray this year and we're considering the plug in. I heard about Clix noise phobia cd a few months ago but forgot to purchase it but will be getting it soon for the fireworks around new year. We also got a mekuti jumper and body wrap, not tried the body wrap yet but put the jumper on him yesterday and he feel asleep soon after, even with a mad puppy running around. So that definitely had a calming effect.

Hope Perry feels better with his DAP plug in! Pesky fireworks hehe... xx

the other option to try is Zylkene.suitable for cats and dogs. no prescription required but u will need to get it from ur vets, it can also be mixed with feliway/dap.
