Lots of posts here - and on Bulk LPG thread - to avoid automatic top-ups and being ripped off.

Relevant article in The Guardian Money section on Saturday - and on-line (no pay-wall) here: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/nov/29/dont-pay-over-odds-oil-deliveries#comments

Pensioner charged 81.95 ppl by Northern Energy in January when average price was just under 59ppl ...and Northern Energy even charged his neighbour one third less. He had no joy when he complained to Northern Energy: now it's in the press maybe there'll be better news next week, but I doubt it.

[You can leave a comment on the article - there are already a few about buying clubs. Somebody might like to post a link to this forum - and even their buying club? And you could tweet the link for the article and/or put it on FB].

    {Here's a link to the Bulk LPG thread if anyone arrives here from The Guardian: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/67032461#Comment_67032461 }

Just ordered 500 litres from NWF in South Cheshire. Quoted 44.6p/litre (inc VAT), but sending out £20 off vouchers so the overall cost fell to £203.13 - equivalent to 40.6p/litre, cheapest I've paid in five years.

Starting to regret buying at 52.7p in September :D

Edit: If you are in their delivery area (it's NWF in Calveley, Cheshire) all you have to do is quote ref NWF214 when you order. This is valid until 31/12/14. There is another code NWF215 valid from 1/1/2015 to the 31/1/2015. Minimum delivery is 500 litres & you get the full £20 off this.
  • Just paid £446.14 for 1000 litres, from Rix.

It's down to 38p here in Northern Ireland. About 5p more then 9 years back
  • Down to 33.3p a litre plus VAT for delivery today via Oil Baron consortium in South Cheshire so quantity not relevant. Cheapest since February 2007.

Just checked Boilerjuice, 34.33 for 500 litres, same price for 1000 L.

Price still seems to be going down
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
  • 33.46ppl for us, a shame I don't need any at the moment!
Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £0

Blimey, what are the rules for how much you're allowed to store in a domestic situation ? I'm tempted to buy a 50,000 litre tank and fill the bloomin' thing up now, it can't get much cheaper surely ? Not that I'm complaining, I'm about due for a fill-up in the next month or so.

Here's putting the cat amongst the pigeons - is oil going to be cheaper than mains gas for a period, what with the news today that BG are not passing on all the reduction in wholesale prices to the customers ?? At least oil does seem to adjust to the global market price pretty rapidly.

You only get the 5% vat rate to about 2300 litres. After that the vat rises

I'm just keeping my tank filled to the gills ATM and enjoying a warm winter (indoors at least) :)

Interesting - I didn't know that, thanks. I suppose it makes sense - more than that and they assume it's not for domestic purposes.
