I last paid 55.5p per litre in January plus VAT for 700 litres, marginally cheaper than September at 59.9 although welcomed reduction.

Early on this this batch of replies, many people were referring to boilerjuice, I once looked into this site and it is a group of oil companies all in the same ownership and they were more expensive than my supplier GB Fuels, but things could have changed since I first contacted them, which was a while ago.

Yes there has been loads of discussion about Boilerjuice and its ties over the years here.

As with any moneysaving, the answer is to shop around. Boilerjuice is just one potential source to get quotes from.

On the plus side, it is very quick/easy to get a quote, follow price trends, and establish a base price for comparison.

On the minus side, it is rarely the cheapest source.

I've cancelled it now but was on a Direct Debit auto top up with Northern Energy Supplies (Harrogate) for over 13 years. When I last worked the figures back they'd been charging us just short of 80ppl !!!!! I hate to think how long that's been going on...May have cost us thousands in over the top payments :(
If you check the web site they offer all sorts of "benefits" to entice you onto DD payments but can you see anywhere where it says this will be at a 40% premium on the price? I can't! One part does say "Payments would be calculated on an average unit price per litre, taking into consideration the rises and falls of the oil market." Don't know what school they went to: When everyone else is paying around 55ppl what is average about 80ppl?
NOT HAPPY about being taken for a ride...Beware DD and check the going rate on the likes of Boilerjuic,e etc.

Suppliers make much of how these DD, auto top-up agreements reduce your stress - never run out, never have to worry about your supply.

But the supplier then decides when to top you up. They will do it when it suits them ie when prices are highest.

If there's a price hike, they'll turn up with a tanker even if your tank is still 3/4 full to top you up.

when prices drop, do you think they'll choose to top you up? Only if they absolutely have to.

So no, 80 ppl does not surprise me.

If you want to spread the cost of your oil monthly, set up a Standing Order into a dedicated savings account in your name, earn interest, and use it to pay for fuel when fuel prices dip.

It will drop further if Mr Cameron would pull his fracking finger out :p

One reason the price is falling is because the USA did pull their finger out!!!

Just got 49.95 ppl for 1500 ltrs from Northern Energy up here in North Yorkshire.....1 pence cheaper than BolierJuice....and .05 pence than Hall Bros....every little helps as they say :)
  • Just got a price of 48.95ppl but was buying 19,250 litres at beginning of June. Bulk buying does have some advantages. Also means that the group members pay the same price irrespective of quantity required!
Down side - only available in East Yorkshire.
