Thank you all, you are so kind. Happy I hadn't thought but my dad would have wanted me to sell items. He and my mum sold her rings and his prizes from work when they were hard up when he was ill. I hadn't thought about it until you said. DS3 has tried to sublet the room and he is now going to ask the landlord if he can find someone. I think he should ask someone to advertise it at uni. It is in fact a student house.
Mr P has a form to send into DWP. It is where DS2 works. I got them mixed up in my last post........ Mr P has had a counselling session today and he seems to have picked up a bit.

I have spoken to DB in Oz and he has sent us some cash and has also said he will pay for postage. I just decided to come clean and tell him all. He has been really good and won't badger me about not going to visit him, for a while at least. He was behaving as though we didn't care about him because we haven't been out there to see him. At least he will stop giving me grief :)

We received a ridiculous electricity bill today. £796!!!!! And we pay £120 per month. We could have done without it today. Tonight we have all the lights off and candles lit. I need to track down the electricity leak :D Have a feeling it may be DS1 who keeps leaving the immersion heater on. He is away for two weeks now so we can keep a close eye on useage and see if it is high in his absence. I feel as though I am starting to sound like my dad who used to write down the meter readings as he went up to bed every night.

DD and I went to visit my 82 yr old aunt today who is not at all well. She lives 50 miles from us so we can't see her very often at the moment as fuel is so expensive. (My brother paid for the petrol too) She lives alone and has had a few falls recentlyand has become very forgetful. It is the time I always dreaded, when we need to accept she can't manage alone and needs support. She won't come here to stay as she says 'Good Good! How can anyone live in a place like that? She is talking about the lack of local amenities and churches with services every day.

We have been given a Christmas pudding today :) Yum, a lovely home made one and a pavlova too for those who don't like Christmas pudding. I did splash out on a four bird roast from A1di at £9.99

  • Pooh just wanted to send you a big hug. Things sound very tough for you and Mr Pooh at the moment and I'm so sorry.

You did make me laugh re the Electricity Leakage !! We appear to have Water Leakage here, I fear our culprit is DD1 and the ridiculously long showers she takes !

    Take Care xx

Pinot my electricity leak has slowed a lot since DS1 left last Thursday. We used to have a water and electricity leak in DS2 but since he has moved out he understands that a 30 minute shower costs a lot. He is much more frugal in his personal care now. :D He is home for 10 days but he won't cost as much as DS1to run.. They are all in their twenties so should all know better by now.

DS put some money into our bank account yesterday so DS2 went to A1di and stocked up on fresh fruit and vegetables. It is wonderful to have full fruit bowl and vegetable basket. I think we are all enjoying the simpler things in life a lot more now.

Mr P has improved a bit and is now out chopping and splitting wood. It is wonderful to have him out of bed at last. It has been around a month....

    Happy Christmas everyone

We have had a lovely few days, thank you. I made a definite decision not to look at finances over the Christmas holiday as we all needed a break from me and my financial angst. DD says it is all I talk about:o I am a bit concerned that I am making Mr P worse by my worrying him too.

Mr Pooh is out of bed again today: he got up at around midday but that is a massive improvement. We need firewood so he has gone out to cut some with the chainsaw. DB bought us a log splitter which will free up some time and give us a free supply of wood for a few more weeks.

Today I have checked our bank balance and expected outgoings and we have £1.86 available to us to spend. I will have to be even more careful not to waste it:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Not sure I can feed 4 adults on it.

DS and DB both put some funds into our bank account to get us back on the right road. We wouldn't be where we are without them this month.
I sold a pair of trousers on ebay for £4.50 yesterday so need to get them in the post today, then relist those that haven't yet sold.

Must get on and list some more items that are likely to sell.....
