Hate it when people are so crass. What makes them think that is even slightly acceptable I will never know. Can you take back a deposit for additional cleaning? Should you levy one of say £250 per booking in future/

We have been very lucky. We had some water got into the cottage but it was only rain water so we dried it up with towels and have had the dehumidifier on overnight. All is good today.
Our house we had two windows and one door blown in on our back porch. It is wooden and single glazed but it does protect us from the elements.
We have been incredibly lucky not to have any more rain or flood damage. I really feel for the people of Carlisle, Keswick, Cockermouth and Appleby.We were affected by the floods in Carlisle last time. I am of on my very cheap holiday in London soon to meet DS1, DDIL and her mom from the USA. I can't wait to see them. If is only a year but feels longer since we last saw them.
I am hoping my holiday will be almost free. I have done a house swap (free) , got two return train tickets from Cumbria to Euston for £26, have a free bus pass, and have checked out free places to visit. DDIL's mom wants to visit the crown jewels. The youngsters don't want to go so I may be going there. I have checked out markets and supermarkets near to where we are staying and will take some things with me.
