We have had a lovely day with lots of family here.
There has been plenty of catching up and reminiscing.

I panicked a bit last night about not having enough food. Mr P and I went to the co-op amd bought loaves of crusty bread for just 19p a loaf, lots of salad items and snacks at reduced rates. Some are now in the freezer, and some was enjoyed with salads and meats and cheese today.

DGD loved her Frozen dress ing up dress but the sleeve split so I have either to mend it or return it. Probably mend it.

I am sure I have eaten too much so I will be at the gym tomorrow.

Yesterday I had a trip to Tyneside to see relatives. DS s 2 and 3 took me. DS2 has been doing quite well the last few days. I hate to say so as that is when he suddenly goes back down again. He has a CPN visiting. It only took 2 years
    It is definitely helping him.

Finances are still tight. The cottage electricity bills have rocketed when they should be going down. We are researching ways to cut costs including changing electricity provider. Because we are gold award winners with Green tourism business scheme and are green at heart we use 100% renewable energy company. The prices have increased and somehow a lot of electricity is being used.

One way we can cut down is by hanging all the cottage laundry outside more. I have always tried to dry outside but since Mr P has taken over laundry duties a huge amount has been tumble dried. Whenever I queried it he said he needed it dried quickly. I showed him the bill and instead of him becoming depressed and ignoring it he actually hung out the cottage bedding and towels for an hour before the rain started. They then had to be hung up around our house to get them properly dry. When it is five lots bedding and 16 towels it is a bit much but doable.

Next plan is to find out about solar panels, check the GSHP is working okay and research electricity companies for a cheaper green energy rate. I also want to write some info for cottage guests about their use of tumble dryer too. I have put our old heated airer into the cottage now to try to encourage less tumble dryer use.

Some people bring all their dirty laundry and wash it while on holiday including washing all their bedding from home and pet bedding:eek:. I know because sometimes I see it, sometimes they tell me and other times the tumble dryer filter is so full of lint and pet hair it is overflowing. Maybe Martin recommends that people do all their laundry when on holiday to save money :rotfl:

Just thought. I will ask DS2 to do the electricity company research today. He is great on finances. And needs a purpose.

I knew people were doing a lot of washing as my neighbour is very upset about the amount of washing she sees hung on the line. She knows how it cuts into profits. But it is the drying we don't see hung outside that concern me more.

Yesterday I changed to a slightly cheaper electricity company which is still 100 % renewable.

I would like to know if Martin Lewis and these forums recommend that people take their dirty laundry on holiday with them.

One couple arrived with a small back pack and said they always wash their clothes every day when on holiday. She booked us because we have a tumble dryer. They arrived in a car so were not sort of space to bring more clothes with them.

PAT testing was done today. Everything passed.

I have done some spinning today. I have been given lots of fleece. I am trying to be even more old style.

At the moment I am making a clippy mat from old fleece jackets. Different type of fleece ☺and knitting a cardigan for myself AND making peg bags.
I do just 15 minutes or so of any one thing as my hands, back etc can't manage for long periods as the pain can be to bad.

beanie it is made from cut up fabric. I have made four in ten years so not racing ahead with them. Three have sold for charity and the first one I had in my leaky porch. The backing rotted :(

I have about ten bags of fabric waiting to be cut up but I don't do it often because of hand pain. I use old sweatshirts and fleece jumpers because they don't fray.

I am thinking of having a list of things to do each day.

    eg
    1. Stretch
    2. Declutter for 15 mins
    3. Eat three meals
    4. Save some money
    5. Pay something extra off business debts
    6. Do something fun for free
    7. Stick to menu plan

    Any other ideas?

  • Great idea.
I would adjust no. 3 to:

    3. Eat 3 meals a day and drink a glass of water with each.

I don't know what happened. My idea feel flat. I forgot all about it.

DS2 is now doing better but we had another blip and I was tired of writing about it.

Things are going steady here. We have now got our new electricity supplier for the cottage. We chose OVO. I have unplugged the tumble dryer and put the plug out of sight to make it slightly more difficult to plug in the dryer. The heated airer is in front of the dryer too. We did think of having a competition. The person who uses the least electricity gets a free weekend but it wouldn't be fair to those in the winter who will need more for heating and lighting.

We have a busy three months ahead of us. DD is ready to help out a bit. She will have to bring both her children too this week so that should be interesting.
