We have just been away to a family wedding. It was great spending time with my sister and her family. We, siblings, were all together for the first time since our dad's 70th birthday in 2005. As we are spread across the globe it was a bit of a miracle we were all together on Saturday.

I am afraid I spent too much while away but I did get some specially shaped insoles and some trainers to try to sort out my latest problem, plantarfascitis or foot pain :D Something I can't get locally.

We stayed in a hotel with a pool and had swims and saunas so feel even more relaxed than when we left home. On Sunday we spent the day on DSister's boat on the estuary. A glorious day watching wildlife.

I have two pairs of shoes, a handbag, a dress and a hat to sell on ebay. I wore them for the wedding and won't wear them again so they can go straight away. DD and I are planning to sell at a car boot sale soon too. We just need to keep an eye on the weather.

DS3 is bringing his girlfriend home today or tomorrow. She is from California. My sons do like to choose young ladies from the farthest reaches :D

DD is back in hospital again. She has been in and out since January

You wore 2 pairs of shoes at the wedding ??

Seriously though, I admire your decision to get rid of stuff you don't imagine yourself needing again. I'm a shocking hoarder, especially with clothes & shoes. I always think I'll get into it again/it'll become fashionable again/it's lovely material/it's got happy memories/I haven't worn it enough times etc etc !

Glad to hear you had a lovely time - nothing like family get-togethers.

I lost all my previous posts as the internet was so bad. It is a local wireless intranet. Telephone line broadband is almost as bad. We pay for both and the last couple of months both have been a disaster.

But last night the wireless internet spring back into life and I can join the land of the 'connected'.:j:j

Finances are okay. Cottage is fully booked until 27th June. Then only one other week available before the end of September.

We are managing to pay all the cottage bills and by next month can put some away to cover the winter bills.

Mr P is still unable to work because of his shoulder. DS 3 brought his girlfriend home for a visit. It was her first time in UK. She is an acupuncturist. She treated both Mr P and me. His shoulder was okay for a couple of hours. I had more energy for a couple of days. She says she can help both of us but she needs more time. The plan is to visit them on the ship later this year. We only have to pay for flights.:)

Kitchen renovations are very slow. I can only paint for short spurts but it is improving. The new larder cupboard and fridge freezer look good. I have ordered a new cooker hood and splashback from Argos. I chose them as I get vouchers and cash back.

I will work out costs later. I still need work tops and a wall to be plastered. I found a mixer tap at a jumble sale for 20p :money:

    :D I did :D

I bought a lovely pair on 3 bay for £9.99 then the day before the wedding we went to check out the venue and found it was a marquee in a field. So I had a quick dash to Mr S for some suitable flats. The others are a low wedge heel but I still had visions of me falling flat on the ground. And that would be without alcohol :D

Yesterday DD cleaned the cottage while I looked after DGS. He was awake and happy so I stayed in the cottage with him and only handed him over when he needed feeding.

I have a kidney infection and feeling pretty rough so sitting with baby was enough for me. The doctor says my anti biotic are the equivalent of bleach-kills all germs.

DS 2 has been up and about every day and is going to replace the drive shaft on his car. He bought it yesterday and hopes to do it today. It is amazing what you can turn your hand to when you have no spare money. He can cope with doing it for a few days, says he couldn't do it as a job.

He is getting splendid help from primary care and is having follow ups with a variety of other agencies who are now all talking to each other.

Yesterday I spent nothing. Unless you count £200 spent online the day before with MrS. I have stocked up on scores of things we had run out of. We were down to egg chips and beans as our staple diet. Trying not to spend on food and use the contents of the freezer turned into 'whatever was easiest'. The freezer is going to DB.

Last night I cooked a chicken and we had jacket potato, chicken and broccoli. One thing I received from MrS was fresh noodles so we are using left over chicken, broccoli from our garden and noodles today with a sweet and sour sauce made by me. I really dislike shop bought sweet and sour sauce and home made is cheaper and tastier.

Sounds lush. Feel like dropping round! :D

I agree re cook in sauces. Never buy them, well unless pesto counts. They taste pretty bland compared to what you can rustle up at home.

Doing lots of pegging out...thanks again !

  • I really like sweet & sour sauce, and the one I get at Aldi is delicious and cheap. What's your homemade recipe ?
