Well done on the bookings. It sounds as though ds2 is a bit cheerier too? Perhaps it's the lighter days. Your kitchen refurb sounds lovely. I can't picture the larder cupboard. I always think of a larder in old houses where you walk in but I guess it has shelves at a better height?

We have next stage of kitchen refurb to update. Our plasterer came around on Saturday. He has asked for DS2 to remove some more very loose plaster from the walls. The house is 300 years old so we do find this happens when we start something new. Then he will come and plaster the ceiling and one wall plus a large patch in the hall which has been very loose for years now. We are going to buy materials as we still get a good rate :) DS2 might find knocking plaster off therapeutic.

He missed a chance to go out on Friday because I asked for a lift home from DD's. He had been down since. Not sure why yet. I want even expecting him to want to go out so feel a bit bad about it.

Cottage changeover today. I have a lovely lady helping out today. And I will ask DS2 to do some of the heavy work later if he feels up to it.

ETA DS2 did some more of the plaster removal from the wall in the kitchen. It just seemed to drop off most of it

Today I have asked on Freeegle for some unused vinyl flooring off-cuts to line some kitchen shelves. I have had a friend get back to me already, so the shelves which have seen better days will get a new lease of life. :money:

It is a great way to protect new kitchen unit shelves too. My old aunt always used off-cuts to keep her cupboards like new especially where pots and pans are going in and out of cupboards. They are much easier to clean than trying to get to back of a cupboard, just lift out and wipe clean, even soak in sink to remove sticky debris.

Our local hairdressers has a 16 year old who needs practice so I volunteered. I was her first human head yesterday. She gave me a wash blow dry and then straightened my hair. Not an easy feat. I was asked as my hair is naturally curly and so it gave her something challenging to do.

It was free too. Very relaxing. I am going again next week.

DD and I are organizing a fund raiser for Syrian refugees. It will be an Easter egg draw at church on Sunday. I spent £17 on Easter eggs and we have 100 bricks in a wall to buy. DD bought a huge egg too so lots of prizes.

So yesterday wasn't a NSD. But it is a very good cause.

More plaster and render has come off my hall wall. It was where we had a new radiator hung last year. It has pulled the plaster off the wall. It turned out to have about three inches of render which was not attached to the wall, then about for layers of plaster skim on top. The stone work behind looks quite good but it needs to reboarded and plastered or the whole wall would have to be stripped of and repointed.

The 'money pit' still gives us work to do :D

How can they return something because it doesent fit

I offered returns as it wasn't selling.
I hope I don't get customers like that. Hope you sell the coat for more this time Mrs P!

    October xx

She says she wants to buy from me again. You have reminded me that I need to change my missing too say Spring coat instead of Winter :)
Pooh the kitchen refurb sounds like it's coming along lovely :) And very MSE so far! I hope the cottage bookings continue to keep on coming! xx

Thank you. Kitchen refurb is about to start costing a bit though as so much plaster had come off the wall... I have asked then to skim the ceiling too so it all matches. We have a newly plastered corner after the water leak at Christmas time.

DS 2 s seems better with something purposeful to do. And I think the light is helping too. The problem with Mr P being here is that he is up early and doing all the jobs that DS2 has planned to do on the days when he is feeling a bit better.

There are a lot of larder cupboards on sale on line. They are are not the lovely walk in cupboards we used to have but a large wooden floor to ceiling cupboard with nice deep shelves, spice racks on doors etc. Some have drawers too. They are very expensive too. I have ordered a tall two door wardrobe with two drawers under and fitted out with four deep shelves.

Ah I see. Hope the plastering and making good doesn't cost too much.
Pity your ds2 loses out on the jobs but nice situation to be in with 2 family members available to do them!

Plasterers are here for a second day!! But DS2 has helped a bit which will have saved us on labour costs. When he was a student he worked with these guys as a labourer so it has been good for them to be around.

We have saved on materials as they have used some boards from Mr P's stash!

I haven't spent anything yet but after the new shed is delivered and plasterers paid I will have spent around £1000 today!!

It turned out to be £500 for the shed and just £200 for plasterers so not as bad as I thought.

The shed is wonderful. Mr P now has to sort out his stuff and hopefully find materials we can sell or give away on Freegle. When we receive insurance money for both sheds which were obliterated in the storm we will have enough to cover the costs of the new one. :)

DD took me out for lunch today and DGD got to decorate two biscuitsfor £1.

The local pub had reopened after 17 months closed so we went for a drink. We can advertise the cottage as having a pub within one mile again so a great asset for us

Lots of positives today and lots of spends
