£111.30 is the best fare for you outlined below. because the morning train must be very full you could try splitting at York but im not sure you would make much of a saving unless you used GC to get from there to London.
If Jules travelled on the 0748 Northallerton-York and then the 0830 York-London arriving 1043 this would save £12.90 on the fare you have quoted.
Grand Central would be £134 off peak return so more expensive than the East Coast Advance singles.
My post (which was made before you edited yours) lists the cheapest services around the times you stated. (i left of the 0743 direct to London as that train was £74.10 which is more than the others i have posted).
I have found returns for £84.80 or £98.40 depending on the chosen outward train.0 -
yes i know i can read. I had edited mine because i was taking the !!!! out of julie first then looked.

That ok for you?
By you putting £111.30 is the best fare you have misled because my post quite clearly shows considerable savings can be made on the fare you quoted.0 -
Much cheaper in First Class ? - okay find me an example any time in the next twelve weeks where you can undercut this Fare in 1st Class on a weekday.
With regard to the free booze if it's on offer would you turn it down-it certainly speeds the journey up.
I have tried splitting at Crewe but not been able to beat £60
Still waiting "for how I can do that journey much cheaper" with or without the booze 1st Class:D0 -
yes i know i could have checked but didnt have the time im ever so sorry.Work sometimes precedes my checking up fares for others on here."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Ok then but i cant at the moment because Virgin have not released tickets for 13th april so cant get a quote..
But 2 days before there are stunningly cheap singles if you go via glasgow.
Glasgow to preston is up for £9 one way. so im guessing that when the fares are released they will have similar ones to that and then from there down to brum.
I reckon we can get it cheaper yes."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

So you think i can get it down by tomorrow Living thedream?

I have picked a random date (Monday April 4) and i have found fares for Falkirk Grahamstone- Sandwell & Dudley
05:47 10:55 2 changes 5:08hrs £41.50
15:54 20:56 2 changes 5:02hrs £41.50
16:24 21:46 3 changes 5:22hrs £22.00
17:54 22:54 2 changes 5:00hrs £16.00
These may be standard class but the train you have found for £60 (1754) leaves you with £44 to spend on items to 'speed' your journey up.0
