So your evading the questions wealdroam asked you then?

He if you got a refund then bully for you but please, answer the questions.

If you read wealdroam's original posting, it advises that my friend would not be entitled to any refund irrespective of what answers I gave to his/her questions. To remind you, the posting stated 'Sorry, I don't understand why anyone should refund anything'.

For info, I got my friend to follow dzug1's informed advise as per below rather than listen to wealdroam and it paid dividends (or is it vouchers ?) for her :

The unused tickets (which I assume were walkon tickets as advance tickets don't exist on those routes ) can probably be refunded - ask at Poole station. There will be a £10 admin fee which will mean the CJ-Vic one won't result in anything.

A complaint to SW Trains about the heating might result in a travel voucher for a small amount

I will advise that my friend did not complete her journey to C/Junc and got off the train at an earlier stop.:)

[STRIKE]Broadstone[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Kentuniversity[/STRIKE] sorry I mean stephenliverpool1, I'm sure wealdroam is really upset that you followed dzug's advice rather than his.

    I understand your frustration.

For me, I ain't got anything yet but I have requested a cash refund rather than vouchers.

They have confirmed in writing earlier this week that I will get a cash refund within 28 days and, if I remember correctly, it will be via cheque. I'm also hoping that they will also send me some vouchers as additional compensation. They did this last year for me; so fingers crossed as they say.:)

How old is she - a YP railcard might help.

Or regardless of age a network railcard - but that has time restrictions.

Where in London? that might help with thoughts on other possibilities.

well she is 38 and the journey is london liverpool st to wickford and back, i did look into the railcard but the minimum spend is the single fare. i have tried looking on all the pre book site and the fare is the same, time of travel is off peak, national express does seem really expensive where the next line across CtoC is half the price but she cant get over there

The FARE will be the same on all sites, by definition - they all sell the same tickets at the same price with few exceptions.

There may be some split ticketing that would work though I doubt it. Try Shenfield or Stratford just in case

If this is for work would not her employer pay if they are sending her to a different workplace?

An off peak return is cheaper with a railcard - after 1000 it is £13 whether day or up to a month.
  • theres not much hou can do to reduce this fare im afriad. All advice is what dug has already said
