Kitty_Wren wrote: »Just checked out the prices, the tickets are pretty cheap. I paid nearly £600 for 2 tickets to see Britney last year, so these tickets are nothing to people who have loved TT for the past 17 years (or however long they've been around for).
From your post, I was expecting them to be about £500 each
The point of my post was that the company were selling tickets before they had actually gone on sale. In effect they were selling you fresh air. And personally I find £65 to £75 to stand on a pitch ridiculous.
Also these companies, many of which have been forced to close down, don't always provide tickets. I've read about plenty of people who have sheled out several hundred pounds and received zilch in return. A lot of people who use these shoddy companies (and don't forget they are actually online touts who pay people to buy up the tickets therefore preventing true fans from buying them from proper agencies and also it is known that agencies like Ticketmaster actually give these companies a ticket allocation. How is that right?) aren't true fans of the artiste they want to show off by saying they have been to the show or in some cases they are corporate purchases for people who couldn't care less about who is on stage.
As for 'true fans' (oh how I hate that description!) I have been a fan of TT since the early days and have seen them on several ocassions, however, my financial circumstances have never meant that I coud afford £500 for a pair of tickets nor would I want to pay it even if I could afford it. The money isn't going to the act when you buy from these shonky companies. If concert venues and agencies allowed people to return tickets for re-sale that woud stop a lot of these silly prices. The most I have ever paid for a ticket was £160 from Ticketmaster around 8 years ago and I went into a panic then at what I'd paid.
I can't afford to go to concerts any more but it doesn't make me any less of a fan of people like Take That. Nor does it make you any more of a fan if you want to line some shysters pockets by paying way over the odds for tickets. I've seen the damage that kind of attitude brings from women who think they are special fans because money talks; the lies and deceit it brings and it sickens me and many others. The people who won't go to a concert unless they have front row seats at every single show on a tour. If we all thought like that, the venues wouldn't have many people in them would they?0 -

the dense title is yours again
My apologies flea. Howabout telling flea instead of throwing my words back at me out of context!
And as you have said on the relevant thread, you too can have your dense moments!0 -
What the heck is going on in the codes only thread today??
Yet again - Mama Mia in the Diet Coke Festival!!
Non film info - i.e. Darius and the Big Band show Info I posted in the correct thread yesterday!
The Walking Dead info duplicate of a post made on 22/10!
Why????
This is why we need a dedicated Board Guide who has responsibility for the Cinema threads and maybe the show/concert threads too. It's all well and good saying that the BG's don't have time to read every post and that we should contact them when something needs doing. Then have more Board Guides who will concentrate on particular ares of interest!
This forum is fabulous but it is far too large and unwieldy to be run by so few volunteers.
That's my two pennyworth and I realise I've now shot myself in the foot but I've kept my big scouse gob shut for long enough. It's no good everybody muttering to each other in pms etc, it needs to be said in plain English in plain sight of the Board Guides and the people who are paid to run M.S.E.0 -
I spent some time constructing my review to entice you and torment you and what happened when I got home? You made it to the screening :rotfl:
I was told after the film that a few people walked out of the Liverpool screening. I wonder if they demanded their free money back!;):p Well I enjoyed it. Admittedly it didn't have me crying with laughter but it was a damn sight better than some recent 'comedies'.
Sorry, that posted itself! <imagine angry smiley here>
To be honest, my personal take on black comedies is for the humour to be dark and more of a subtle funny rather than a full-blown laugh-out-loud funny. People expecting the latter are placing to much emphasis on the word comedy.
I loved the mix of actors that appeared in it and have to admit that I didn't even recognise Bill Bailey! Ronnie Corbett's first appearance got a great response from the Liverpool crowd and I loved 'The Militia'. fantastic.
Ah, Bill Bailey. He was just brilliant (as he always is). He was almost a 'Chorus' type presence and made it feel like it was presented a bit like a morality play where the characters were fighting against a battle of good and evil.
Hasn't Andy Serkis got a great face? It's great to see him acting as a human being and I do hope he continues, his cgi roles have rather over shadowed his career.
His acting is far ranging.
I think John Landis did a fine job of keeping it light-hearted and funny whilst still telling the 'true' story of how Burke and Hare were in actual fact murderers and not just grave robbers but included the conspiracy that kept the medical profession out of the hangman's noose.
John Landis is a personal fave of mine.
For those who are thinking of going to see it, please don't leg it out of the cinema the second the credits come on, or else you will miss some very interesting titbits.
Have you been to the museum Tibbs and is that exhibit really on show?
The skeleton and 'death mask of Burke are held at the Anatomy Museum (Edinburgh University) and there is a 'pocket book' made of his skin at the Surgeon's Hall.

Martin has posted a thread for questions about the site, but its turned into a suggestions board
I have asked why/suggested this idea too
While at work I have instant access to the internet so I would gladly take the job on
Oh, I've also PM'd a board guide to get ride of the chaff0 -

I wish you better luck in your quest to be a BG than I had.
My point is that we shouldn't have to pm a BG to get rid of chaff etc.0
