  • Just back from POTA, if you have tickets for tomorrow am, worth the haul out of bed and going to see this movie. Really enjoyed this film, gave credibility to the old Planet films and liked the links this film had to the old films. Momentous, go see.

Yes, we loved it - a a little silly in places perhaps as you might expect but it generally managed to stay just the right side of too far-fetched. The CGI was amazing, with an incredible amount of emotion conveyed, and it was a thought-provoking and very intelligent piece of Sci-Fi. It also had several truly sad and touching scenes that had me shedding a few tears.

And don't be in too much of a rush to leave at the end..... or you will miss an important bit, which seems to be the link to any future sequel.

    Thoroughly enjoyed the film.
My screening was about 98% full.
We got there 20 minutes before the start, and again could not find seats together, so had to sit on separate rows.... which all had 7 seats in btw.
This wasn't the 'end of the world', we just sat separate and enjoyed the film.

Only spotted about 3 single vacant seats right on the very front rows..... which again had 7 seats in the row.

Ah, what a shame - we arrived nearly 25 minutes before the start and it was similarly full, but people in a row with three single seats kindly moved up when they saw us without having to be asked so we could sit all sit together, which was nice of them. We were very grateful for their thoughtfulness. Having said that of course, it can be nice for you to sit apart, to encourage making new friends etc.

Some of our rows only had 5 seats. The variation in numbers of seats in cinema rows is quite staggering and indeed fascinating....

This has to be the funniest post I have read in ages. I actually chuckled.:T
  • We've been invited to a TEST screening (not a preview) next week of the new Marc Forster (Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner) film Machine Gun Preacher which isn't out until November.

I haven't been to a test screening for years and am looking forward to it.

They need to change the title for a start - it's supposed to be a serious look at the plight of Sudanese children forced into becoming soldiers, but it sounds more like forthcoming tongue-in-cheek Grindhouse-trailer-becomes-real-movie Hobo with a Shotgun!

Pretty much my thoughts too! I've not seen any other POTA films so it was all new to me. I was surprisingly emotional in quite a few places, so I'm glad it wasn't just me being a hormonal woman! :D

We arrive at 10 on the dot and people were already sat in the front seats. There were just 2 individual tiered seats left. The beanbags never got taken, but a couple of people sat on the steps in front of other seats! I would have thought this was a health and safety issue, but the cinema staff spoke to them but didn't move them.

I went to a test screening a couple of weeks ago. Oddest thing I've seen as the film was still in very early stages, with storyboarding in place of some of the clips. Film isn't out til Easter next year so plenty of time to fix it. I think it did lower my enjoyment of the film which is a shame as it should be good when it's finished.

You obviously failed to spot that I was satirising your absurd but hilarious post about seven-seat rows...
