DFS leater sofa problem

  • ooooh DFS, or as we like to say "Don't 'Fink So". we avoid them with 40 bargepoles, we brought a three seater leather settee and two seater, it arrived, was not covered properly or tied down on the van so when they delivered was covered in scratches and torn. We refused to sign the delivery note and asked the driver to take it back, they refused, they FORGED our signature on the delivery sheet. To cut a very long story short, 4 weeks later they took away the settees after sending FOUR people out to view them (who firstly insisted that we had caused the damage). EIGHT weeks following original delivery we got our money back in full but only after sending emails daily, calls daily and threatening them with trading standards. OUr advice, DONT USE DFS!

Hi chris sorry i dunno how to do that maybe someone on here could post my links regarding dfs, i think if you type in my id in the search box it might bring it up.

Yes you are being fair of course you are in the end paying for it, trust me it wont be the only problem with the sofa this is just the start so reject it !!! dont let them repair it if you do forget the refund etc once you agree to a repair thats all you will get and because you let them you cant then ask for a refund and reject.

You didnt ask them to repair it, the guy took it upon himself to try something he then told you it was faulty (faulty goods etc etc remember) your getting yourself all stressed out dont worry just stick to your guns tomorrow and let us know how it goes please.

best of luck with them. we had sofas from dfs and after 6 months the seats had gone flat and saggy we called them out to look at it and was told it was our own faults for buying a model of sofa that wasnt supposed to be sat on very much! LOL

    update:

ivejust contacted the store manager (hate waiting for them to call me so i called them)

i asked him if hes seen the report he said yes so then i said im rejecting it under the sales of goods act and claim a full refund, he said thats fine ill need to arrange a van to uplift the sofa but that will be next week because ill need to contact head office.

i asked him to put this in writing but he said we dont do that, but can i just take his word for it?

purplejac do i need them to put it in writing? and will they cancel the finance? (idont trust companys word) (i work in retail so i know how it works)

do you think i should contact there head office and explain to the person dealing with the case?

i had a week off work this week and its been ruined by dfs having to sort all this out, can i claim compensation for the inconvienence

You put it in writing to him and send a copy to Head Office. Tell them they have agreed to uplift the sofa and as per the conversation this will be on or before 15 October 2010.

Hi chris yep as davy says above put it in writing to head office and a copy to the branch, they will uplift next week they did the same for me it was about a week, contact the finance people and tell them the situation and ask to cancel the contract or if its dfs that does that.

Glad it all turned out well for you !!!!!!!!! well done you ..
