I have a three year old sofa - it has sunk on one side. After endless phone calls to head office and the branch they sent someone out to look at it who agreed it had sunk and needed resolving. He offered to do so with a piece of blue foam and to rip the underneath of the sofa apart.
I refused - as per the Sale of Goods Act - and he claimed he was doing me a favour as a good will gesture!
Even their website states their Guarantee but DFS say my sofa is not part of (bought at the wrong time according to them)
Your guarantee

The guarantee starts from the date of delivery and offers cover against manufacturing defects on the frame and spring construction. We also cover your furniture for 2 years against any defects which may arise, under normal use, through faulty factory workmanship.0 -

DFS have had shocking reviews for many years, yet they do not change. The guarantee is there to protect them, as they know you are going to need it. Better for DFS to fix faulty furniture in your home, which was made cheaply, than make quality furniture in the first place.
DFS will not recognise that they leave so many of their customers feeling short changed on both quality and customer service. Profit before pride spring to mind.

It should be there for rare cases of poor workmanship, not the frequently badly made furniture sourced from China for major profit.

Many of the staff are ex-Bridge craft employees and take pride in their work.

Cheers, I should have requested that the sofa we chose was made in Long Eaton, by the ex-Bridge craft employees. The trouble is China was closer to the DFS bank.0 -

The only decent quality DFS Sofa's are the ones with a 10 year warranty, but of course, they cost a lot more than the cheap and nasty Chinese stuff.0 -
The main problem is that people go to a shop and don't have a clue about what to avoid, what is going to be made well, or badly as in our case. The showroom model is a higher spec than the one you will receive in many cases it would seem. Some people are not on the internet, so don’t see the hundreds or thousands of bad reviews. A TV program like Watchdog enlightens us to certain scams and bad sales tactics, but not enough reports are getting through on the lack of quality in DFS furniture.
If anyone is having grief with DFS and the quality of their furniture, please report to Watchdog, with enough reports they can at least put them in the spot light and then DFS have to explain why so much furniture is being fixed and filled in the customers homes.
If enough bad press is out there, DFS might have to change their ways. Because so far I have read reviews going back several years and it looks like not a damned thing has changed, they still have furniture made in China etc… where it is thrown together in a matter of fact way and DFS are still lying through their teeth and saying all their furniture is of the highest quality.
You should see our sofa! It makes me laugh every time I see it, so pathetic looking compared to the photo and salesroom model, it looks like someone has copied the design and made it with cowpat, staples, off-cuts from a softwood bird house, elastic bands and spit.
DFS don't care about their customers and they don't care about the quality, if they did they wouldn't have this cheap tat made in China. Or they would at least make sure there is some quality control.
One thing is for sure, if you are a half decent upholsterer and never want to be out of work, go apply at DFS, you will be very busy!!!! But make sure you can look people in the eye when you lie to them, you will need the morals of an alley cat to sleep at night.

DFS only exist because of their 4 years interest free scheme.
If they insisted on full payment up front they would be out of business.0 -

You are probably right.
We paid in full. We will be sending copies of our complaints to our credit card companies disputes department as we feel we will end up taking this to the SCC.
Why is this company getting away with what feels like daylight robbery? They seem to think if some customers are happy that is enough...bl**dy used car sales thinking.
They wouldn't know quality if it hit them in the face.0
