i know....i was shocked as to how many i needed.
she reeled of about 6 when i asked the doc about them a while ago. i think it might have included my booster shots of tetanus and some other one thinking about it actually.0 -
I once went on holiday and forgot to take any clean knickers with me
Thankfully I was able to buy some while away though!
My best travel buys are a washing line made of two pieces of twisted elastic with rubber suckers on the end. You can stick it up anywhere, and jam things between the elastic so no need for pegs.
I also like to take a travel kettle just in case the water needs boiling before you can drink it.Here I go again on my own....0 -
In SE Asia you cant even use tap water if your going to boil it. It has to be bottled water for everything (and keep your mouth closed when you shower). You can actually see things floating round in the water when you use the sink. It's horrible. But bottled water is really cheap (about 2p per bottle).Becles wrote:I also like to take a travel kettle just in case the water needs boiling before you can drink it.
Everything there is unbelievably cheap. Packets of cigarettes 17p for 20, 3 course meal in a restaurant for 2 people about £3.00, Apple iPod for £3.50, dvds 50p each and cds at 30p each.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

jambojen wrote:the pill injection only lasts 3 months as far as i know, and im out there for 6 months. and im not in a place long enough to register with a doc when im out there to get another jab. so the pill is my only option i think. any other ideas are welcome though as its obviously something im worried about, spesh if i get the runs!!! or lose them or something.
EEK worrying even more now!!!!

Chao!
Can't tell ya about the other countries, but in Vietnam ... you CAN buy sanitary towels and tampons! Many of the locals I met in Vietnam did drink the tap water - some boiled it, some didn't, but the bottled water is very cheap there anyway, it was easier for us to buy a bottle next door:D 'cos it was lovely and cold!
I would recommend buying a pack of wet wipes there, forgot what they were called though
but they are fantastic for cooling the body down and getting rid of that icky feeling during long journeys;)
The only thing that I missed (on days out whilst we were there) was my swiss army knife ....:rotfl: you'd be surprised at how useful it is:D
Just make sure you have your basics, you can buy everything else you need there!
Enjoy!I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0 -

im off to the docs tonight to get my malaria tablets. i think they are going to be Doxycycline, but i have heard they make you react funny in the heat?? and they are gonna be 18p per tablet.
Mystic_trev, cant believe there is a `boots` in Bangkok!!!! lol.
i am also having my injections on the 18th, does anyone know if they will be free???? i have heard so many different things. ?
jen
Doxycycline can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight (although I've not heard form anyone having this side effect) If you have problems MASTA suggest using a higher factor sunscreen.
There's not only a Boots in Bangkok but also Tesco's - you'll feel right at home!
Jen you'll have a great time in SE Asia.I'm off for my fourth RTW next month and can't wait.I'll fill my rucksack up with bog rolls and aquire most of my "wardrobe" en route! I'm starting off with a couple of weeks in Vietnam then down to Aus for the Ashes.0 -
