What do you wish you had taken???????

Hi!!

I'm backpacking in S.E Asia for 6 months on November the 6th with my fella.
Was wondering if u have been away for a long period of time and forgotten something, or wished u had taken something that u didnt have.
For example i have bought a universal sink plug that someone recommend i take!!

anything else you might think will come in handy (cheap of course!!)????

Corkscrew is essential - the sink plug is very wise, but you can also use one of those rubber 'power' balls. They fit just about all sinks and baths too!

It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.

I went to Vietnam for almost a month and there are no sanitary towels on sale there so I don't know if it applies to all of S.E. Asia. So I took half a suitcase of them with me.

Apparantly the locals see them as being unhygienic so they just let it flow naturally!!

Tampons are hard to find in SE Asia

    Water free hand gel

A clothes line (get in adventure shops)

A sarong is great for all occasions (cover shoulders in temples etc, and use on beach)

Plastic food bags - 100 uses

    A few elastic bands

Mossie spray etc you can get everywhere and better stuff than here.

Be careful with that as everyone on our trip had the runs whilst there even though they were careful with food. So the pill won't work.

Take a thick skin. You will be offered stuff to buy from beggars everywhere you go such as postcards, T shirts, books, toiletries. Just keep saying no thanks.

A small tool kit , comprising a of pair of pliers and a couple of screwdrivers. Handy for mending anything from jewellery to a light switch hanging off the wall.

the pill injection only lasts 3 months as far as i know, and im out there for 6 months. and im not in a place long enough to register with a doc when im out there to get another jab. so the pill is my only option i think. any other ideas are welcome though as its obviously something im worried about, spesh if i get the runs!!! or lose them or something.
    EEK worrying even more now!!!!
    lol
