  • Hi Ladies,

I don't post very often but hope someone will have some fab ideas to help mine grow!

I have 3 hair dressers / beauty salons on my territory and as of yet have not been around them with any brochures however I think now is a good time too start with it being xmas soon.

How should I approach them? I'm quite shy so not good at conversations with new people. Was hopeing to put a note with the brochure with my contact details if anyone wanted their own brochure.

    Any ideas, tips etc ???

yes, I would say you have lost the book. The only thing you could do is give them a backorder book that you don't mind losing, ie 2 days before your order is due to go in.

Either that or only canvass them every few months and see how you get on.

think i will try them! and see how I get on! :) makes you wonder why people throw them away!

Most people don't realise that with Avon we have to pay for our books and therefore we like them back to reuse them.
  • how very true!! :) on a good note! got my orders totalled up and am only £14.90 away from hitting my MOV! am back out tomorrow to collect some books I left on saturday! so hopefully someone has ordered something! and my mum has been telling people that i'm now doing AVON and has told me to leave her a brochure or 2 with some order forms as a few family members want to order something including my younger brother!!! seems to looking up! think the other half is getting fed up seeing all these avon books everywhere!!

    Hi all....

I joined Avon last Wednesday, and am waiting on my account number. I had a text message on Saturday to say Welcome to Avon and my account number would be with me shortly. However my first order is due on Tuesday and I'm worried the account number won't turn up on time - is it worth phoning customer services? I just want to get registered so I can have a look at the ordering process etc rather than leaving it till the last minute. What will happen if I haven't received the account number in time?

Also, I'm a bit confused on how it works with back ordering.... I'm currently on C16 and C17, so I'm presuming I can order from HT18 and HT1? Can I also back order from C15 & HT17, or are C16 and HT18 classed as the ones I am back ordering from?

    Thanks in advance :)
 I have this theory that chocolate slows down the ageing process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?

I have a few people like this myself, who don't give books back but who i know may order someday. instead of giving them an entire book, I just put through their door one of those 'gift guide' inserts that we have been getting lately. the additional booklets that are supposed to go w/ the brochures. then i put a calling card through as well and check the box that says i called to collect their brochure. then you are reminding them that there are new items to look at but without wasting yet another book.

hi, i am new as well but i asked all the same questions you just did, so i'll share what i've learned :)

-- your account number will get emailed to you first, in an email entitled 'Welcome to Avon!'. Then you will get a text (in my case i got this a full 2 days later than the email). You should contact the person who signed you up to Avon. they can check the status for you.

-- Right now we are in campaign 17, which means that when you order, you can order anything from brochure 17, and 'backorder' anything from 16 EXCEPT clearance. As for Hello Tomorrow, it means that you can order anything from HT1, and 'backorder' DEMOS ONLY (no clearance) from HT18.

The ordering process is simple, but i will say that it's worth doing it the day before and having it all input and ready to go. At least in my area, the 4 hours before orders are due at night, the Avon website becomes impossible to use because it is so slow and bogged down from everyone placing their orders at once. I almost missed out on placing my order at all because the website kept freezing for hours. the ordering system allows you to pre-input all your orders and then 'save' your order without submitting it yet. so you can do all that once you get your account number, and then on the day it's due (early in the afternoon!) , just ask all your customers for their last minute stuff. All you have to do then is submit it.

Take a look at page 1 of this thread and click the links about halfway down the page to look at the HT1 and HT18. Write down what you want now, in case your account number shows up at the eleventh hour and you have no time to do it before ordering. Order whatever you can of the 'free to order' items, which are in the Business Tools section of HT. they are really useful. I would also suggest buying a pack or 2 of the Representative Calling Cards. These are nice Avon cards that you can pop through a door when you haven't gotten an answer to your knock.

Thanks Aureol and JAvon for your replies.

I've just realised there is a sale brochure which should have gone in with my C17 duh - how dumb am I?

I'm due to send the order in a week on Monday.

My ASM advised me to order my C18 in advance - but can't remember why. I can't submit orders from C18 on my C17 order can I? There's a nice supplement - Jewellery to go with C18 too.

There is so much to remember - I don't know what I'd do without this place.
  • Oh maybe she meant for me to put out brochures the week my C17 is in process..be ahead like. hmmm

I'm due my baby on the 16th Nov and my next order is due in 19th Nov so it's going to be tricky working it out.

Now might be a good time to enlist your OH (if willing) or a friend to help you out. Don't know about everyone else but after I had mine I was like the walking dead for the first few weeks with constant feeding and changing.

Customers will love it if visited by a bloke - just make sure you let them know beforehand especially if he will deliver after dark. I know you intend to do it all yourself but a back-up plan is always a good idea.

As to Christmas, I am currently making a list (ok so I've printed off the paperwork and intend to) of customer orders over the last year. Then I will spend hours (oh yes, can take that long) poring over their ordering habits and if they are a bath or shower type of person. My best few customers will get decent presents from goodies in my box - have lots of creative ordering freebies and some pretty good too. Then I will wind them down and the smallest gift will probably be a bubble bath (bauble from last year or one of this years Christmas trees) or handcream. Those that only order a few times a year will probably just get a card. Thats the plan, anyway...
