The first set of questions I asked on Connects was much more to do with use of images online, whether I could borrow quotes and text from HT and the brochures. So that would probably have needed to be answered by an Avon legal person unless another rep or SL had already done it. I've just done it anyway since nobody said anything :D

I only asked the SL questions yesterday so someone will probably come along to answer them.

The thing about the Avon logo is it's so easy to duplicate, or at least make something that looks very similar. I don't put the "the company for women" bit underneath. Century Gothic font, space between each letter and you're done. I've seen a few Avon logos with the pink rays in the background being used as FB logos, often edited to read "AVON London" or whatever you're calling yourself.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
  • Jeez this is so hard to keep up with!!!

Can someone help me on a few things as I'm so new to this!! Can you all let me know if I'm on the right track??

    I'm on Campaign 17.

Thursday my ASM came out and set me up, I made up my Avon Books with an order form and a "Special Offers" leaflet with things that caught my eye (and a free gift offer for orders over £15) and put them in a zippy bag and delivered to 14 houses (I didn't knock, just put them through letterbox as I'm pretty shy lol). I also put a little friendly leaflet in the front of each bag asking them to leave it outside on Monday for me to collect. I also made up some "Sorry I missed you leaflets" for anyone who doesn't leave the book out!

Printing the leaflets cost me a bloody fortune from the library (£4.20) though and that was only enough for 1 campaign plus a few spare - going to have to work out how to do that cheaper!

The rest are at friends & family and I have a couple of spare books which were meant to be for friends who never came for them. I expect friends and family orders to come to around/over £50.00.

Hopefully, on Monday I'll get all my books back with at least two orders (fingers crossed!!!) I'll make them up again and get them back out to another street in the afternoon to collect on Thursday. Hopefully get another couple of orders for Thursday and have to put my order in for Friday . Then delivering to customers the following Friday (5th) and friends and family on the Saturday (6th).

Does anyone have a link to Campaign 18 so I can make up another special offers leaflet and get things ready to go for as I'm due a baby on the 16th Nov and possibly being induced as early as next Tuesday (long story) so I really really need to be as prepared as possible!

At least when I have my baby I can put all my books in the pram as my territory is quite far away and I was knackered carrying a bag of books out!

    Thanks guys x
  • moneysaver sounds like you're doing alright to me. There's a link to C18 on 1st page - think it's post 9.

What they might have meant about f&f reps not needing to order as often - we can miss a couple of campaigns, then order, and there isn't any penalties, if you miss out more than a few camps (not sure how many) then you get charged the admin fee again although you can use the same account number.

As a territory rep, if we don't order every campaign, we can loose our territory, depending on the asm for the area. Most are understanding enough to know that you might need to miss one camp out due to holidays/sickness etc, but any more than that and unfortunately the asm can well remove your territory to give to someone else, especially on the run up to christmas. I've had a fairly new rep tell me they're missing out the next 3 campaigns, I know the asm will remove their territory, and if they didn't - their customers aren't going to be happy at basically not getting a book now until after Christmas, so might well never order from them again anyway. If you are going to miss a few campaigns out as a territory rep, best to order something to keep your account active - even just some free order forms, that will keep the asm off your back, as it shows you are going to continue and it shows you as an "active" rep for their target, so they have no immediate need to remove your territory.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Hi, I am only on my third campaign myself, but regarding the question about the "sorry I missed you" leaflets - I printed my own out for the first campaign and found it quite time-consuming with everything else. Then when I put my first order in, I realised that you could order a pack of 100 calling cards for 60p, which I think is pretty good value and a lot easier! I think they will be under Stationery when you put your order in.

Good luck with the birth, and don't get lugging too many books around in the meantime, will you?! ;)

Thanks!! I wish I had my account number so I could get a look online at the stationery etc. It actually seems like quite a lot of work so far for what I'm going to get back! Does anyone know how long I have to wait for my Account Number? I got a text today saying it would be soon but still haven't got anything!

It all seems really confusing just now, hope it comes together soon.

Thanks for the good luck wish, haha it's certainly keeping me fit and keeping my mind occupied on maternity leave with organising everything. Driving my boyfriend insane with all the talk about Avon though! x

I think I had to wait about a week for my account number.

It is all confusing to start with. There are still things I don't know about, such as returns, as I haven't had to do any yet, but you learn as you go along. Everyone on here is so helpful too! Once you start getting some orders, it will seem more worth it too!

Yes, it's good to keep you occupied and once you have the baby, you can carry the books in your pram, as you said. Good bit of exercise and fresh air too! I drive my boyfriend and family mad too, going on about Avon all the time. It's par for the course, I think! I love the products though, so that helps to stay enthusiastic about them!

Did anyone notice what foundation the Magix Cashmere is being replaced with, I did read it on the Product Supply Issue spreadsheet on the Avon website, but this seems to have disappeared now - unless it's been moved somewhere else!!

Got 3 separate orders for this foundation as well.
    I'm an AVON lady :j

    c13 - £165, c14 - £260 c15 - £357 c16 - £423:)

moneysaver599 - I think you would be better off printing ONE page of whatever leaflet you are going to be using, then paying for COPIES to be made of that one leaflet, at a newsagent or something like that. Printing things is more costly in terms of ink, so many times you may find that it is more expensive to print multiple copies than it would be to use a copy machine somewhere else. It is worth checking around.

Also, when doing leaflets which go inside the zip bag with your avon book, you can make them quite small... copy and paste the same thing over and over in rows in your Word document, so once the page prints, you can cut them all out and have something like 8-12 post-it-note sized messages. that cuts costs also. no need to have your messages take up a full or even half a page. even 4 per page is quite a generous size.

Even though you are shy, you will save a lot of time, effort and money by knocking on doors rather than putting the book through the letterbox. I have found the best day to be Saturday late afternoon, around 5. People are relaxed at that time, in a good mood 'cause it's the weekend, and usually are home to answer the door. I knock, and if they answer I give them a big smile and say 'Hi, I'm your local Avon lady and I am just wondering if you'd like me to leave a book with you?' and I have a book in my hand which I hold up to show them. If it's a man, I say 'would you like to take an Avon book for your wife or partner?' I even give them to kids.. I will say 'hi there, just give this to your mum please'. they are always very smiley and take the book away, shouting 'MUUUUM'... If a woman answers the door and seems excited to get an Avon book, I always offer a free sample and then say what day I will come back to take their order/retrieve the book.

I have had very good luck getting my books back because I print out sticky labels that I stick on the front of the book, saying to please leave outside if unwanted, and that I will re-use the books. I print them off about 40 at a time, pretty small labels that just get stuck to the front cover of the book.

I have not yet had someone be rude to me. I just make sure to give a big smile and not take up their time - ask if they'd like a book, keep it short and sweet and they won't be annoyed. I get told 'no thanks' quite often, which helps me not waste my time on that house again (or at least for a long while). Then I can save my efforts and books for the houses which say YES :)

Doing this helps you know what kind of products or buying habits the occupants may have, also. You can see how old they are and what their skin looks like, so you know what type of samples they might be interested in (esp. important for Anew skincare). I have had good luck doing this so far.

The 'sorry I missed you' cards, I also use for when no one answers, and i don't really want to waste a book but i also want them to have my number. so I stamp my name, number and email address onto the card (I have an ink stamp for this) and put it through the letterbox. That way they have a way of contacting me if they would like a brochure.

Hope some of this helps. :o
