  • have been to drop off all my orders and have got some very happy customers!!! one neighbour didnt realise it was me doing it and said she will be ordering again!! fingers crossed she does! :) am starting to really enjoy it now! need to find boxes to hid stuff in as its getting out of hand all these brochures!! :)

why is it, end up going to ikea to get a few things and about 100 quid later you realise you didnt get what you went for?!!!!
  • OK. I'm going to have a grumble.

    Do not like my SL.

Been given two streets to do that are the worst streets in the area for crime. I can't even take the car to them - would have to park 200 yds away as there is no access except to walk.

These two streets are just not safe and most are made up of flats.

I told SL I wasn't happy. Her response was contact ASM. When I asked her, she didn't know who the ASM was. Thought as SL, it was her job to know or find out.

Anyway, contacted Avon and they told me who the ASM was for my area and that they would have her contact me within 48 hours either by e-mail or phone.

    I'm still waiting.

I feel if I do these streets I am putting myself not only at risk of assault but also the chances of getting paid for orders would be very low. One of my friends works for a well-known lending agency and when I told her what streets I'd been given...well I won't repeat her answer.

I haven't taken on Avon as a part-time job for Christmas. I want to build this up and make it work.

At the moment I am getting very disillusioned and almost on the verge of giving up because of the lack of communication.

I really feel I'm being left high and dry.

If I could find my own territories I'd just go out and get them, but I don't want to encroach on someone else's territory. I wouldn't like it done to me, and I certainly wouldn't like to do it to someone else.

Thank you for reading my grumble.

    (Mutter, mutter, discontent).

j.avon - I think it's hard to explain... But the surgery scares me less than the thought of seeing a dentist! The stupid thing is I know this is actually a totally baseless phobia *sigh*
i think the main thing is to find a REALLY nice and understanding dentist. I have gone to a few that were very rude and got very gruff with me. I don't take that $&^% - I walk out! I will not tolerate a care provider from the medical industry to be rude with me... their job includes having a good 'bedside manner' and if they don't like it then I don't feel the need to put up with them!

Bite the bullet and make the appointment - and tell yourself that if you get there and you do not feel comfortable, you are FREE to LEAVE. If you get there and the staff is very nice, just tell them to be extra caring with you please, because you have a phobia of the dentist. You are not alone. Many people are nervous. The staff's job is to help you through it while you receive treatment. If they act annoyed or roll their eyes... go elsewhere, and do not feel bad about it. Stand right up and say "I'm sorry but I'm leaving."

I think you will find that the best dentist also have the best receptionists. Call a few and when you find one with a really sweet sounding person on the telephone, mark that one down as one to try. If the person is dismissive on the phone, likely you don't want to go there, because SOMEONE there hired that person and clearly their standards are not high!

The hardest part is making the appointment and then going to it, but you can get to that point by first calling around and choosing one that sounds friendly, then simply walking in the door, and all the while saying to yourself that you are free to leave at any time. The knowledge that you can leave at any time is sometimes all it takes to just get that hardest part out of the way. GOOD LUCK :):D
  • Lady Python - Being really nosey but where do you live? I have an estate that my ASM (havent got a SL) kept trying to give me roads from. Told her there was no way I was doing them as have been told by many people that it was very rough and again a lady that is in the lending business had had warning from her company about how bad it was (she even lives on this estate) Luckly ASM very understanding and has given me different roads.

Wouldnt it be strange if you lived just down the road from me lol :D

could you not order some things for customers 'in case' they want them and unfortunately have to return them? to make your MOV?

j.avon - I have been very fortunate (hence why I am actually getting my teeth sorted!) and after a long time trying finally got on the books for a good dentist in our nearest town. He's not the most pampering dentist - but he's not gruff, rude or patronising. He's very factual and yes I'd prefer him to be a little more "there there..." but I can put up with that because he's actually quite nice IYSWIM? He gives me all the options, explains why and what he'd do, let me make the choices and go from there. I did have to explain to him that no I really really didn't want to see in a mirror what he was trying to show me... I'd take his word for it! But as he knows I have a phobia he offered me a few options - like I have a tooth at the back that needs a root canal - he said that it wouldn't make it if they did it the NHS way - it simply doesn't give them enough time or the materials he needs to do it - he'd recommend referring to a specialist... HOWEVER as I have a huge issue walking into a dentist we could look at him doing it privately - that allows him more time and different materials to what they can use on the NHS - hopefully he can save it that way. I know that sounds like he was trying to private to me - you just have to believe me when I say he wasn't ;)
And their hygineist and receptionists are all so far very lovely - I arrive EXACTLY when I'm due for my appointment because I cannot sit in the waiting room or listen to other people having their teeth drilled etc and they just smile and say hello and go straight up and sit outside his room - I've not yet been there more than 1 minute whilst they are just readying the bits and pieces (because I don't want to be there when they do! lol)

So on the whole... I've been very lucky to get in there... it'll cost a fair whack certainly but it'll be money well spent - hopefully my dental insurance will pay out on most of it too! (Fingers crossed!)

Lady Python - My leader (she's not ASM - she's higher than that lol - I went straight to the top ;) ) told me not to wait for an allocated area - but start with family and friends, always have a brochure on me with an ordering slip and when possible use my daughter to my advantage ;) By that she meant go to toddler play groups, chat to other mums and hand them a brochure, same if you pick kids up from school, or go to WI meetings, ladies darts at the pub, bridge evenings - ANYTHING you can think of :) Get friends to take one to their office for you and offer them a free gift as a thanks etc...
She also suggested not to just drop and run - although I fear I shall have to lol - but instead knock on the door with a massive smile and just ask "Hi I'm one of the local Avon ladies - I was just wondering if you currently got an Avon brochure and if you might be interested in getting one?" - even if someone else has that area they might not have canvassed it for months and months - where i live there IS an Avon lady - but she's quite elderly and actually only drops to her long term regular customers - I've lived here 5 years and never seen a brochure! Bet most of my village hasn't either! So my plan is to drop brochures in my road first - easy to do, loads know me or see me at least and would be very easy to pop back and deliver if they're out :) And high chance of getting my books back! ;)
