Ah, don't be downhearted! I know how you feel though! I've only had 5 orders so far, from my regulars, amounting to about £36. Still got a few customers to pick up from, but no new orders from my canvassing. I had a really good second campaign but think I will be nowhere near this time!
I guess as has been said on here, the campaigns are quite close together so not everyone has got the money to buy every time. Also, maybe people aren't wanting to think about Christmas yet?
Let's hope the next one's better!0 -

Thanks there was a few books that hadn't been left out but I'll try again later for those so fingers crossed someone will want something!! Had one woman write on the slip in front of her book in capital letters red pen 'I DON'T DO AVON!!!' complete with exclamation marks.0 -

Do you find you lose a lot of books this way?Owed @ LBM, including mtg: £85961.15, As of 1st August 2016: £14481.01 :j

Wouldn't the 8" by 11" bags be too small for a child to get over their head anyway?
It would seem so, but that is the size the bags were when I started 20 odd years ago, and there was what was referred to as a "serious incident". Obviously, reps have to make their own judgements, but I personally am not happy to take the risk.Owed @ LBM, including mtg: £85961.15, As of 1st August 2016: £14481.01 :j

went to see my customer that the other Rep had canvassed! First of all when I explained I had taken the other Rep's book by mistake, she said to me I accused my whole family of throwing the book away and you took it! I explained that I hadn't looked at the book and the order form until the night the order was due in, as I had been busy, so it was only when I keyed it, and then looked properly at the order form I realised it wasn't mine. She was telling me I shouldn't have taken the other Rep's book, if it wasn't mine, and I could tell if I looked at the order form. And I said I just explained, I didn't know it wasn't mine, until I looked at the order form properly. I came to give you a book that night, and saw a book outside, and thought I must have given you one and forgotten. So I took it without checking. Anyway I told the other Rep what has happened.
Then went onto explain that these 2 roads were originally allocated to me and she shouldn't have been given them, but it has been sorted now, she is keeping them, I am keeping my existing customers on that road.
She then said to me, But I Know this Rep! she is a friend!
So I said, ok, if you don't want to order from me again, fine, just let me know so I won't put the book through anymore.
So we had a bit of a conversation and it turns out, this NEW REp, of 3 weeks, lives on the same F*&^$(%(*$IOG Road as my customer!
she has known her for 10 years, but didn't know she did avon! I said she didn't until 3 weeks ago!
I said, but if she lives on this road..... I canvassed this whole road with books! She must have got one of my books with my details! She may not have left it out for me, and the second time, if she did that I didn't bother dropping a book again, or she wrote not interested!!!!
I said she knew there was a rep doing this road! She has had at least 1 book of me! She must have decided she wanted to do avon herself, which is fine, but why didn't she tell her SL, she keeps calling her a Team Leader, that there was already a rep delivering to her road!
She must have looked at the book and decided to sign up! But do you know what.... my order form still has my original stamp, Representative and Sales Leader!
So my customer told me that this Woman is very shy and she can't see her going door knocking! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
She said she was passing along the street, my customer happened to becoming out, the other Rep said hello and handed her a book! No I have started doing Avon, would you be interested, etc, etc. Just gave it to her! My customer said she left the book with her for 10 days before coming to collect it and she didn't even know when she was coming! It was pure coincidence that she left the book out and I happened to come along to give her my book and picked it up. If I had come the next day, it would have been collected!
My customer said I have to return my order as she is not paying for both, I said, no I don't expect you too, but you could have told her you already have a Rep and no thank you to the book, that is what a lady on the next road said to me. I said that was fine, I have a record of houses I do not leave books at , and she is one of them, because she told me.
So it sounds like this rep is only giving books to people she knows! I could keep these 2 roads if she is not canvassing them!
Anyway the long end of the stick is, the customer is going to see if the rep turns up with her order, even though I told her I was ordering too, and if she does, she will pay her, I send mine back, but in future my customer will only order from me. But we have to be secretive about the book and delivery!
Now it is Reps like this! That pee me off!
And when I was a SL canvassing for people to sign up..... I did a long road of expired books.... if you want to sign up, contact me. NOT ONE person contacted me, but when I checked the road again, 6 people had signed up as F&F!!!!!!! they could have signed up through me, but went to Avon direct!0 -
I am sorry to hear about the serious incident with the child and a bag
but since I have joined up, no one has ever told me not to use a plastic bag because this is what happened. I still use my 8" by 11" bags. I have people keep the bag and leave the book outside without any cover, and it has rained/snowed/sleeted and got ruined, so had to be put in the bin.
I cannot afford to buy more books to cover books being lost, so I am going to continue using the plastic bags. But I will be more aware of the homes with young children, that I deliver too.
even books left out in bags, if left out for too long, when it has rained everyday get ruined, but this is a chance I take. When I was doing Avon full time, I used to walk my territory every day to check for books that people had slung out before the day due.
And only a couple of my customers are kind enough to leave a book out with a bag of their own.
The only other option is for you to tell your customers you will be knocking to collect the books back, and tell them when you will be coming. This way you don't have to give a bag.0 -
cutiepieabf wrote: »thats a good idea! do you remember if she got many orders from them?
She was one of my highest earning reps! She had one woman order £50 worth of perfume nearly every order!
The first time I went out with her to show her how to do it, she knocked on every door to find out if people wanted a book to save her books, if they weren't in, she would leave one with a note to leave out in a couple of days and she would be back to collect it.
And quite a lot of them left out if they didn't want to order.
So worth a go.0 -

What on earth was she doing with all that perfume, I wonder? !!
Anyway, it is not for us to question, is it.
Avon probably think my house stinks as I bought loads of room sprays last campaign when they were 99p as one of my customers uses them to spray her bed linen every day and gets through loads.
Sales a bit down this campaign, fingers crossed for C18 - my anniversary campaign. Will probably do a little gift for customers who have been with me for a year ...0
