  • I am bit miffed as can't test my heating as I have lost the key to the meter box  was looking forward to two hours heat today now wearing a thick jumper and slipper socks. Will have to wait till test until next week when I get to town to get a replacement key.

Unless anyone knows how to open the meter box without the key, I tried using a pair of scissors but that didn't work.

Is that the one with the triangular shaped key? When i lost mine, i just made the same shape out of stiff cardboard. It needs to be a really tight fit to get enough grip.

Had no heating on here yet, had a quick blast of the fire 8am this morning as it was a bit chilly. Refusing the heating till at least October.

Yes that's the one I will give it a try thanks. They are not expensive to buy, but wanted to turn it on today. I will need to get a new rad key to bleed radiators anyway and think you can get a four way key with both of these on from £land (I know you could last year hopefully they will have them in again)
  • Kids have friends coming and said they were cold so it has gone on for first time this winter, however they will be off to uni from Monday so will be off again until they next come home.

  • Regarding the 4 way utility key.

From what I've heard, they're not very good.

    Better to get separate keys.

    Something like THIS and THIS.

    Total cost £1-90.

From personal experience, I can recommend the T-Bar type radiator key, as the bleed screws can be stiff.

Thanks I will still get a 4 way one for the meter key, 5p cheaper (plus I will get it quicker) as i am sure it will be fine just to use for that, but I have taken your advise and got one of those bleed keys as you are right it will probably be stronger.
  • Still no central heating and no fire at all here - a fair few candles burning in the evening though and the dog really knows I love her 'cos I cuddle her a lot!

My thermostat says 22.5 so definitely not on here! When it gets to 18 I might consider it but hopefully that will be at least October.
