Husband mended our boiler last night - he keeps a selection of parts for boiler, pump, wm, dw and oven. Goodness only knows what would have happened if he did not have the parts in. We have to be warm - heating is not an option when people are poorly and it is so cold xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
It's very firmly on here, although I did turn it down today while the sun was shining through the windows and I was hoovering.
It is freezing tonight, although thank goodness that raw wind has dropped, nipped out for a few bits with the OH and his fingers were going white... that will teach the silly onion to leave his gloves in the car.0 -

I don't know what financial circumstances you are in Molly41 but for the worst off in society there is provision under the Energy Company Obligations to grant fund the cost of replacement boilers where an old boiler has broken down. Just as well, as few people have a hubby on hand with spare parts for a boiler in case of emergencies!0 -

Very true, my boyfriend has been pretty much living at my place for the past few days as his boiler has broken making his place practically unliveable! The landlord has finally brought round some electric heaters to tide them over but I don't think it's made a great difference...March Grocery Challenge: £59.46/£800 -
Mine has been on for an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening.
I'm counting my very many blessings as the landlord installed double-glazing a couple of months ago and the drop in temp is only a degree or two during the day, thank the Lord.0 -
OFF.
I have been a bit lax with allowing the heating on, and i really cant afford it too much.
so, from now on, i am not going to have it on when the kids are at school.0
