How I would love a coal fire, the next best thing for me is candle's flickering away I love them.
Cold day today with a bitter cold wind. The heating is still off the longer we keep it off now the more we can have it on when temps get to minus silly. My hands have been cold today the rest of me was ok with plenty of layers on,it helped taking the dogs across the fields walking into the house after being in the bitter wind made it feel warm for a while away.
I agree with having several candles glowing at the same time in a fire place , makes the place feel warmer, although they dont throw out any heat, its just so nice to have real flames in the cold weather winter.....0 -
We've had if OFF for another day, got chilly this evening but I wrapped up and got our blanket out and it was fine.
The only prob with keeping it off is that our bath towels aren't drying very well and we don't have a dryer0 -
I set the indoor pellet stove to come on daily from today, just 5 to 9 am at the moment as it will warm the house core plus the water. Weather has turned and is very cold, windy and wet. House temperature has been maintained by the sun and topped up with various electric heaters set on thermostats but it is now time to switch to the stove and ch0

Been putting the heating on for about 3 hours each day in the mornings. I find this takes the chill off for the rest of the day. Compared to last year, I'm making considerable savings in this year's gas bill by doing this.
I think it will only be a few more weeks until the heating is on for a bit longer, as it's becoming frosty already.0 -
just put mine on there now, will keep it on for 2 and half hrs that will heat house and give bath water and dishes water and enough for washing in the morning .C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater
