Is your heating ON or OFF?

Sorry I didn't update you with my experiment. For us, in this house, it was going to cost £120 for the month at the rate the heating was kicking in. So the boiler will have to remain on timer 2x a day.
I've been clicking the heating in when its been too cold though. Being too cold makes me miserable and I don't like being miserable.0 -
Mine is on 'timer' at the moment - 7.00am-9.00am then 7.00pm-10.00pm.
There have been a couple of occasions when I've 'over-ridden' the timer - ie when it was cold a couple of weeks ago and I was expecting dgs3 for a day and overnight.
I don't mind the house not being warm when it's for young-ish, fit, healthy adults
but I draw the line at it being like that for the very young, older people or anybody who's not well.
Eon have written to me to say that they want to raise my monthly DD to £94 but I've had to tell them 'to keep their mitts OFF' (if there's a shortfall, then I'll have to pay up), but it's already £85 and I've just gone onto State Pension plus a small private pension. The reduced earnings would make a higher payment out of the question ....................0 -
We have got ours on for an hour first thing and then for a little while in the evenings, but we are using the woodburner as well so it is just for a little heat in the bedrooms really in the evenings. With the weather being so dank and miserable, and the washing not getting outside to dry, we need to make sure we don't let the house get damp too.December GC: £3500

On the news it said a whistle blower has suggested that the wholesale pride of gas had been fixed so Ofgem and others will be looking into the claims...even so the price it is won't help many...as Lilyplonk shows...
I met a man yesterday in his eighties walking using two walking sticks and he was so grateful of his Winter Fuel Allowance but admitted losing £100 would still mean struggling and some cold times ahead...but as he was struggling to Aldi's he did say given the choice "You have to eat""A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. We have storage heaters and they are a nightmare to try and keep to the right temperature, this time of year and late winter / early spring is the worst as the temperature can vary dramatically so we are either freezing or too hot.
Plus they cost us a fortune to run1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

I'm starting to understand the way the plan I am on works. Interesting that now electric may be under investigation as Shegar has mentioned...
Since my earlier post I was back in touch with the energy company...I had them re-estimate what I owe and with the credit on the electric put towards the gas I did not owe £74 and it came out at £16.
So it can pay to make another call and speak to someone else."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
