I have had my heating on since 7am this morning...its too cold for me!!
I have thermal socks on, fleece lined slippers, a vest and 2 jumpers and I am still cold!

Gettingready: 22 degrees? I thought you were going to try and turn the thermostat down by a degree every so often to get the bill reduced? You, sybarite, you! And lucky cats.

Mine is still off. The temp dropped indoors from 14 to 12 degrees overnight but I'm not feeling particularly chilly. Two fleeces one on top of the other with thermal socks are feeling rather cosy. I might take my life and wallet in my hands and sling the heating and hot-water on for an hour or so later for a bath. Then, it'll be on with the full Monte thermal undies for the first time this winter. And maybe treat myself to the leccy blanket as well tonight. Oh, the luxury!

Well, it had to get cold at some point. The outside thermometer suggests we stayed under zeros for most of the day, buit the frost melted under the sun, it was a gorgeous day. We worked outside and were ok, Dh was even in a t shirt at one point, but it is five degrees in the kitchen now so......we are going out for supper.

Dont feel guilty at 20 degrees, mine usually goes at 21 or 22, its got to be that for us to feel comfortable in.......I was outside this morning doing the hens and birds the sun was full out with no cloud pretty chilly even with coat on.......................Frosty nights then usually sunny days to follow, love that kinda weather ................Had a statement for the year from energy supplier this morning worked all figures out on my readings and was well pleased , considering my heating is on most days in the winter from 5 am for 14 hrs per day, im still in credit so im prepared for whatever the winters brings us.............

Winter seems to have arrived, heating on for a hr last two mornings and i have it on now to get it up to temp then will wrap myself up and turn off.The chunk of ice i tipped out of the bird bath didn't thaw out,dog walking wasn't fun my feet were freezing on the frosty field. Two of my dogs didn't seem to notice but the third kept wanting to be picked up she is really tiny only 11inches and normally runs round like a mad thing she had her coat on so i can only think her feet were cold ,she was quite happy to walk once we were off the field.

Temp dropped to 15 degrees indoors, I've got a cold and I felt cold too despite thermals, long sleeve top and jumper so put the heating on today - only storage heater though so will still feel cold till tomorrow..

I am actually too cold to bother doing anything till it warms up in here, my hands are freezing so don't know how you guys manage it when you have it colder than this and no heating!
  • Little dogs can feel the cold more than big ones regardless of the fur-coats. It's something to do with the surface area being a greater proportion/percentage where the volume is smaller. There's some scientific formula I read somewhere: I understood the principle but not the actual calculations. Give little doggie a jumper or a fleece under the coat. Doesn't necessarily matter really whether it makes any difference or not, they will look much cuter by far

Listen, you have a cold so you need the warmth or you won't get better quickly. Those of us idiots who have it colder than 15 with no heating do it because we must or have no heating to put on. Important thing is to see it as a personal challenge rather than a punishment, in order to keep cheerful.

I had never lived in a centrally-heated house until some years after I left my parents' home. It's a wonder how used we can get to luxuries and how reluctant we are to go back to doing without them. Sensible really, but it can be done especially if you have a cosy bed to take to. Being cold in bed really would be miserable and is not to be countenanced. And not really necessary now that synthetic duvets are so cheap now.
