So far bedroom window stays opened a little bit all the time - otherwise too warm for me to get nice sleepmortgage started 31st May 2011 -£59200

Haven't got central heating. We use small halogen heaters when necessary. They don't last very long, but are cheap to buy as well as run. It would be nice to have sturdier ones if they made them.0

Blimey, the beginning of November seems late ... If we had an open fire (I wish we had) I'm sure I would start to light it in the evenings when we started to feel the chill, and put off switching on heating for the whole house
we try and save on coal, even though we got free wood, we havent got a load of room to store a winter's worth, and you normally find its harder to get free wood in the winter, that is dry..
AS also been mentioned on this thread, i also find the earlier you lite the fire, the longer the winter seemsWork to live= not live to work0 -
Heating on? Seriously? I'm still sleeping with the window open most nights!
Once it's cold enough to lock up, I'll think about putting the winter-weight duvet on the bed, but the heating's a couple of months away yet, at least. People moan about new builds a lot - but they sure do keep the heat in...0 -
I have the 4.5 tog duvet on the bed... and I sleep with just the sheet... it is boiling! I am wearing a jumper today but that is more because I have nothing that fits me and it was raining this morning on the school .. no way the heating is going on yet! I make everyone else get jumpers on too..
This a freezing cold ancient house too so not a new build... Though I am working my way through excluding draughts and replacing single for double glazing.. 4 window left to do!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi, I put ours on for about an hour yesterday and its the house is still feeling alot warmer now. i notice that when you havent had it on for a while, putting it on for a hour and then turning it off again can make quite abit of difference for a couple of days. Last night was also the first night i shut our bedroom window!xWife to a hardworking husband and mum to a adorable son and grumpy cat0
