had to light the stove today

After so long of continuous rain and yesterday the gale force winds, every joint in me was screaming in pain today so I had to get the house warmer

Ch is still only on for 3 hours a day and Im going to have to order oil for the winter very soon

I'm freezing, it's blowing a gale and tippling down and just horrible and cold. I'm going to bed, with me electric blanket, night all.
  • Ours is off and will hopefully stay off a while although this may have to be reconsidered once LO arrives. Living room managed to get down to 19.5 today and upstairs was 20.7. We still have the summer duvet on the bed (2.5 tog) and this week is the first week we haven't chucked it on the floor, although I did notice this morning it wasn't neccessary to have the bedroom window open all night!
    Bump due 22nd September

ben "ggoogling" slankets and wondering if they are worth it

Someone bought my daughter a slanket and I fell in love with it when I stayed with her.
They're great for lying or sitting around.
Much more convenient than a blanket because your'e covered properly from head to toe.
No shuffling about trying to keep the blanket round your arms and chest and unless your'e very tall your feet are covered too.
One thing though I bought one,(I got mine on Amazon) and found there are a lot of different ones on offer out there.
I had to send quite a few back before I managed to get an "original slanket" .
I found the original ones to be dearer but they are bigger, better quality and a lot warmer than any of the cheaper varieties.
I'd say they are well worth the money.
  • Our heating is off,not bad here this morning but last night the bed was freezing when we got in.
Tonight if its like that our electric blanket will most certainly be going on.
Heating is staying off though, its only September :).

Another one who put the electric blanket on last night. I was very stiff all day yesterday, and think I needed the warmth in my bones!

Hoping to hold out until at least the end of the month before the Rayburn goes back on. I'm paying a monthly sum for the heating oil now so the pain is spread a bit, but @ £80 a month it's still very steep!

I'm going to move the heated drying rack from the shed that's my 'laundry' into the conservatory next time I need to use it, so at least the house will benefit a little from the heat from that.

Ours is off but I was freezing when I got into bed last night. The winter duvet is back on and I may need to get out the long sleeved pj's instead of my summer nighties. DH will be pleased! (not) :rotfl:

Going to try and hold out until at least the end of the month. Depends on how DD and DS are.
