OFF. my yearlings have been put into their winter field yesterday as grass growth has slowed dramatically and theres plenty in there for them.had the heating oil delivered today its 29% dearer than 2 years ago. Will have to cut down its use.as it heats the hot water there will be less clothes washing and baths too.

  • OFF - though I'm having a fight with myself about putting the heating on as it's been pretty chilly today. I've been up and down to the boiler umpteen times this evening (must look demented!) but have not caved in so far :j. I'm having a cup of tea to warm up instead, and I don't even like tea! Fingers crossed it's not too bad a winter.....

OFF - and will be for some weeks. Only paid for the oil a few weeks ago and not about to start wasting it now. Put some extra layers on!

  • Ours is still currently off. Weather in Essex has been really strange today. Freezing cold first thing on the school run then rather warm around 11am and then turned colder again about 4pm.

Its currently 21oC in our bedroom (where baby is asleep) and 20oC in our daughters' bedroom.

I know a lot of the mums at school have said their heating is now on.

  • Def Off. Trying to hold out until the end of September at the very least :(.
Got a woolly poncho on, fingerless gloves & my winter boot slippers. The laptops keeping my legs warm - dual use! My DS1 doesn't seem to feel the cold & DS2 is tucked up in bed so no-one moaning it's cold.
Had my first hottie of the season last night. Was dreaming of an electric blanket - all over warmth ;). Maybe when the lotto win arrives!

Ours is off and will stay off for a while yet I should think. I feel the cold but DH doesn't so I'm invariably dressed much warmer than he is.
However he is now murmuring about chopping some wood up so I think the wood burner will be in action soon :j!

you can get elec blankets cheap on ebay it's about £20 for a double one, but it doesn't have dual controls or as much tempature control, my elec banket is 6 years old now hubby bought it for me when were going out (is it any wonder i married him :D) and it's fantastic i love it lol, i really need to take it to be checked this year i meant to do it last year but i forgot the date til it had passed

i've been googling it and i can't find an answer is it ok for 5 year olds to have electric blankets?

I am considering electric blankets for my DDs who are 5 as I expect this winter to be Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing... That said, I would only use them to warm the bed and they would be unplugged once they are in bed. Still not sure though.... I will see how we get on.

On really cold nights we all tend to snug up in my bed so we keep warm all together - cheaper and safer too :D

My heating is still off... Although I have been really cold tonight - got my sheepskin slippers on, a jumper and thick cardy and I still feel quite chilly. Should have gone to bed earlier!!
