I think the thermostat is set to come on when it reaches about 8 degrees so it certainly won't be on for any time soon!!

Mine has hardly been off all year. I work from home and it's a very sedentary job and I also have a heart condition which doesn't appreciate cold. It is mainly on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours at night, but there have been days in the last couple of weeks when I have had to turn it on during the day. I don't have this problem at the weekends as I am on the move, but when sitting my feet hurt through cold which makes it harder to concentrate. Better to live in fuel poverty than not at all!

  • I put it on if I need to dry the washing but apart from that I'm hoping to last out til October. Got a couple of spare duvets to go on the bed if necessary and plenty of jumpers and warm socks!

I think we let it get down to about 8 degrees in the middle of day before popping the heating on and even then it will be on for about 3 hours a day. Yes, we're scrooges about our heating bill.:D If I feel cold, my first port of call is a jumper and thicker socks. If that's not enough, I get my thin fleece blanket out. After that comes another layer of clothes, then another layer and last port of call is the thick single duvet and a hot water bottle. I think my OH would burst a blood vessel if I put the heating on this early.:rotfl:

It's definitely getting colder. In the winter when I make bread I mix the dough in the evening then leave it to rise in the kitchen. When the weather gets warmer I can't do it like that because it rises out of the bowl and over the work surface. I made bread today and it took ages for the first rising, so I think it will be back to the overnight risings from now on.

Forgot to say that it was that "warm" because the heating had been on for around two hours (30 mins morning, lunch etc to stop it getting too chilly) and when you have a 70+ and 80+ at home all day - leaving it to drop to 8 would result in deaths Im sure

With the heating being on for a total of 3.5 hours today its now a toasty 16 degrees - the olds wont croak just yet
  • ours is off and will remain off all winter

have you seen the price gas is going up! i would prefer to eat than have heating on in all honesty
