Average electricity usage can all get a bit confusing, some people heat, heat water and cook with gas and so have quite low electricity consumption.
Obviously if your all electric the units will be a lot lot higher, but no gas bill.
Just worth noting.0 -

It's very kind of you to do that for your neighbour. My mum is a fairly sprightly 70 something but will not go outside the door for anything in snow/ice as she is terrified of falling.
Luckily, she is a long time OS'er and has milk and bread, candles, blankets, spare duvets, heaters, nuclear bunkers and a months worth of food stocked.:)
Went to the local market today to get DD's birthday present, normally packed with pensioners looking for the bargains... pensioner free zone today, even the market traders were packing up early..bitterly cold.0 -
Hope everyone is ok this morning. we've got more snow, but nothing too dramatic. Its not cold in the house....I've set the boiler on 50 farenheit and its not clicking on. This morning is on of those when I'm in and out of the house to outside on the farmyard so having the heating on high would be appalling for my skin and make outside harder, but I''m mindful that temps may drop and I don't want the house to get back to ''frozen'' temps, so keeping on low is probably a good idea now.0

Feels quite warm in the house this morning. DH has gone to work. Teenagers still in bed, and little one sat in his new pyjamas wrapped up in a throw watching tv. I'm in pyjamas, dressing gown and houseboots it's really cosy and no heating on at the moment.
Keep warm everyone.
