Still off but I did buy an electric blanket yesterday (bliss!) and am thinking that we may need to lay a fire tonight.
I would really like to hold off till November but maybe just have fires in the evening.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Ours went on this morning. Set on a timer from 7am until 10am and then from 4pm until 8pm. Have turned the thermostat down though.:)
If it is deathly cold at night, we have an oil burning heater on the landing, outside our bedroom. We don't have radiators and the heating comes through vents downstairs only.
I got hailed on this afternoon when I was coming out of the local hospital and then it rained again quite heavily earlier on.:eek:Felines are my favourite

It is very very cold here tonight, my hall thermostat clicked at 11 degrees!! Someone posted about temperatures required for health in here last winter I have had a search and can't find it, it might be a good idea if anyone knows what I am talking about to post it, and we could then repost it every page or two from here on to remind people heating is now becoming essential as the weather gets colder? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Mine's ON in the mornings for an hour and *was* on for the evening from about 6:30pm to 9pm. However, I've bought a mini electric blanket to use when I'm sitting in my recliner of an evening and found I was so toasty with it last night that I was turning the thermostat of the heating down and removing layers from myself! So I've told the boiler to work part-time and shall put an extra blanket on my bed tonight as it's going to be a cold one.Household: Laura + William-cat

I've given in. All the towels from this morning's showers were still sodden when I got home just now and my feet were like ice blocks!

Mine's been on for an hour in the mornings this week, the boyfriend insisted. He said he's not going through another cold and frugal winter like last year and he does have a point there. I do feel like it's a bit of a waste and I could easily tough it out longer but never mind.
I'm not even wearing a coat outside yet, I don't feel the cold that easily (supposedly going to be proper cold in next few days though).0 -
Ours has been on a bit the last week or so, mainly to dry washing - I live in a shared house. However I am loving the warm!! Not keeping it on for too long though...0

I must say that today the temperature has plummeted here. I was at home until about 3pm and really had to battle with myself to keep the heating off. Back home now, a hot meal and a hot drink later I feel warm, but I have put the hot water bottles on standby, lol. I MUST wait till november - 12 days to go, meh.:oBe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I`m sat here watching the temperature drop on the weather station, in the last hour its dropped from 5 degrees outside to 1 degree
The ice warning light has just started to flash so i`d better get up a bit earlier in the morning to defrost the car, quarter to four it is then
The good news is that its still 16 degrees inside :j that 20 minute blast earlier has made a huge difference and has held well
Money saving novice - The towels here were still wet through this afternoon too, the 20 min blast with the heating was enough to dry them and make them snuggly warm for tonights showers.
There`s quite a bit of condensation on the windows so i think i`ll put the dehumidifier on for a couple of hours in the morning, DH can turn it off when he gets up then its running on the economy 7 electricity
In half an hour i`ll be laid in bed watching an old recorded midsomer murders with a huge bag of revels until i nod off:D
There are good sides to the colder weather too
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
